A Letter To The ASU Student Section
thesundevils

Dear ASU Student Section (or as some may say - The Inferno),

As a senior attending Arizona State University, I am a seasoned Sun Devil. This is my fourth year cheering on our amazing football team, my fourth year sitting (standing) in the student section, and my fourth year attending every Maroon Monsoon and Black Out possible. Despite being so excited to go to every last game that I can for my senior year, something has come to my attention at the first two games of the season.

Our student section sucks.

Now come on guys, we have one of the largest student sections in the nation! I mean, we go to the largest school in the nation so it only makes sense, right? If you're a Sun Devil then get to the games, guys! Let's show our team the support they need to bring home the W each week.

Secondly, I cannot stand arriving at the game only to find everyone sitting. Excuse me, but did you freshman not get the memo that we DO NOT SIT at football games. In the student section, we STAND for the entire game, with the exception of half-time. This is honestly a disgrace. In my four years here, I've seen maybe one person sit and the entire section yelled at him until he stood up. Why are we not holding people to the same standard anymore? Have we given up completely? Hold each other accountable. If people are sitting in your section, then tell them to stand up and be proud. The more excited you get at the games, the more fun it is. You can't properly cheer sitting down, so stand up Sun Devils!

Another thing is that our cheers are extremely lacking. It's so frustrating to go to a game with my friends and to be the only ones in our row cheering. That's not how football or the Inferno works. Especially now, we are split up in the end zones. Do you know what that means? It means we have to be extra loud so that the each side can hear each other. Get off your phones and start cheering now! Learn the first song, learn the cheers, count when Sparky does his pushups. Be a Sun Devil and get educated, get spirited, get loud.

Now, don't get me wrong I love the student section, and I love ASU football. I'm just extremely disappointed in what I've been seeing at the games: sitting and lack of spirit, so if you're not going to act like a true Sun Devil, get out of the student section. Let the real Sun Devils get the better sections and don't even bother coming. Do you not realize you only get four years to experience this? You came to a school that plays PAC 12 football; appreciate that and take advantage of that. Many schools don't get this opportunity, and you're lucky enough to get to be apart of it. Step it up class of 2019, or don't show up at all.

Sincerely,
A Disappointed Senior

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

11 Moments Every College Freshman Has Experienced

Because we made it, and because high school seniors deserve to know what they're getting themselves into

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
