To My Abuelita,
I love you and I cannot express those words enough though I will attempt to:
I love your generosity. It amazes me every time I am in your presence just how much you give to everyone around you. Whether it’s inviting people over for one of your Bible studies or making sure that each and every one of the needs and wants of your many grandchildren are fulfilled when we come and visit, you are never tired of being generous. For some people, it may be difficult to be generous with their time or with their money or with their love, but for you, it comes so naturally with all of them and you never cease to give. Whenever I am around you it inspires me to be more generous to those around me.
I love your courage. From always stepping up to the next challenge, to learning to live life on your own after Abuelito passed away, you are far more courageous than I think you have ever realized yourself. There have been too many challenges in your lifetime yet you’ve faced each and every one of them with grace, faith, and an infectious smile and laughter. I cannot even begin to fathom how you were able to cope with all the trials and tribulations you have faced, and it inspires me to face my small troubles with the same grace, faith, and smile that you so bravely put on time and time again.
I love your ambition. I never ceased to be amazed that you were the first female lawyer of the Dominican Republic. Because of this, I want to be a lawyer which is something I do not think I have ever told you before. I find it incredible the way you are able to, without fear, incessantly speak your mind in any situation.
It’s inspiring to me to have such a strong female role model in my life.
I love your passion. You are passionate about life, about your kids, about your grandkids, about your church family and above all, about God. I look to you whenever I am wavering in my faith because of the way you are simply, yet passionately, on fire for God which manifests itself in all aspects of your life. You are always willing to invite people over to your house, volunteer with people in need, or aid in prayer for all of your loved ones.
Your life story has always been an inspiration to me and I want to thank you for being who you are. God blessed me with the most wonderful grandmother I could have ever asked for and I thank him every day for the blessing and inspiration that you are to my life.
Te amo mucho. Te quiero siempre. Feliz cumpleanos.
Tu nieta,
Brittany Sonia
