We live in a world where terrible things happen to good people and intentions are never truly known.

A Letter About The Terrible Events That Have Been Occurring

After these past few weeks and the horrible events that have been occurring around the nation it puts fear in my mind. The events like the Orlando night club shooting, the Stanford rape case, the man headed for the LA pride parade with guns and explosives, or even the shooting of Christina Grimmie. All these scary situations engulf me with fear and probably a lot of other people as well.

The thing is, you never really know people, you never know what someone is capable of and that’s the scariest thing in the world. Not spiders, not heights, not even cancer… Not knowing anothers thoughts or intentions is the worst thing this world has to offer.

It sickens me to think someone is capable of harming others, random strangers, but this is a cruel cruel world. I’ll never be able to understand someones reasoning behind killing or harming others, it’s horrible, those people have lives, they have families, friends, a job, they are more than what you see on the outside.

You think your Friday or Saturday night is going to be amazing, going out with your friends, getting dressed up, maybe thinking about going out was the only thing getting you through your week. Whether you end up going to a party or a club, you get there and your having the time of your life until someone changes your life forever. Although this is just an example, this as we know now can happen anywhere.

Although these are more serious topics, not knowing someone's intentions can be very scary in relationships as well. Yes, a person may tell you a lot and you might think you know them and what they are thinking but words are words and that doesn't mean they are being 100% honest. In a friendship as well, you don't know if a person is toxic to you until after everything's gone down. It's terrible you never know if someone is using you, trust is a very hard thing to gain and keep in today's society.

All of these events really change my perspective on life. You never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, so make everyday count. I know that's extremely cliché but its completely true, I never really believed it until now. Trust is very hard concept in today's day and age, after all these terrible events you may never have the interest to see the good in someone because you are too scared; and that is a horrible thing, I wish it was possible to trust everyone and not have fear. But we all know that isn't possible, like I said people's intentions are never clear, unfortunately.

Prayers for the families affected by these terrible events.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
