Let's Talk Country: 6 Of My Favorite Country Songs

In This Article:

Here are six country songs you should not sleep on, even if the country isn't your go-to genre.

1. "Cover Me Up" by Morgan Wallen

This song is just so good. The feeling you get when singing to it just hits different. It's so soft and has the perfect amount of pop meets country mixture. The twang in his voice and the acoustic aspect really emphasize the country-side of the song. The storytelling within the lyrics is just phenomenal as well.

2. "Burning House" by Cam

Cam has such an amazing voice. She is such a good performer and can really make you feel what she's feeling. This song has such a sad emotion that comes with it, but also a sense of peace. The lyrics are so beautifully written and just helps the song flow so nicely. One of the songs you feel like you know, even if you don't.

3. "Break Up In The End" by Cole Swindell

I just think this song by Cole Swindell is so cute. It is about a breakup, but it's more about how even though he knows the outcome of the relationship, he wouldn't change a thing. I think sometimes it can be hard to look back at a failed relationship and think, "yeah, I'd do that again." It's a really interesting take on a typical breakup song.

4. "Greatest Love Story" by LANCO

This song makes me want to fall in love. The storytelling is so well done. The typical Romeo and Juliet story, but with a small-town twist. The song starts off talking about the love between two teenagers and how life got in the way of their relationship. It's just such a cute song and the ending makes me so happy.

5. "Leave The Pieces" by The Wreckers

I remember listening to this song by The Wreckers when I was younger, I'd just belt it out in the car not knowing what they were talking about. now, that I know a little more, this song still makes me want to belt it out, but now with a little more understanding. It's a really empowering breakup song that just emphasizes how you don't need a person to pick up your pieces, you're fully capable of doing it yourself.

6. "What Are You Listening To?" by Chris Stapleton

Chris Stapleton did it again with this song. The vulnerability of the lyrics really makes this song personal. The stage of a breakup where you just wondering what they're doing is a super weird phase. It's sort of like that awkward middle stage of still being hung up on a person, and getting over them. This song sums up the thoughts that go through your head when in this phase.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
