Remember back in July during The Republican National Convention when Ted Cruz gave his infamous speech? If you do not, allow me to recap what he said. During The Republican National Convention, Cruz gave his reason why he would not endorse Donald Trump. In a CNN report Cruz stated, "I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night. And like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes to prevail in November." With a few boos and and chants from the audience, Cruz continued with his speech.
Now, this was my favorite part of Cruz's speech, "And to those listening, please, don't stay home in November. Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to our constitution." This part of Cruz's speech was so good even Hillary Clinton mentioned, "Vote with your conscience," on Twitter.
However, as good as it is to know the main presidential nominees for two parties, allow me to shed light on other nominees from two other parties who are fighting their way into the presidential debate.
In the Liberial party we have, Gary Johnson, who is a former Governor of New Mexico. According to his campaign page, Johnson is not supported by super pacs, but rather, donations from his supporters. Johnson also addresses jobs, civil liberties, and the big common issue of today, immigration and gives his views stating that the issue of immigration cannot be solved by "building a wall or amnesty," but those are just a few topics that he discusses.
Jill Stein, is the Green party presidential nominee who has been recognized as a female Bernie Sanders. Many Sanders supporters have shifted their support to Stein after Sanders declared he would endorse Hillary Clinton. Others have come to support Johnson. But many of Sanders supporters have found other candidates to continue their revolution even though Sanders, himself will not continue onto becoming the next presidential nominee. Stein desires to follow the example Sanders and shift away from the cooperate capitalist economy.
So what does this boil down to? Although, the running candidates may be Trump and Clinton, understand do there are options that will sit well with our conscience. And let us remember that although they may or may not appear on the ballot we may always write it our desired candidates.
