In my opinion, most families who own guns probably haven’t had to use them. And I'll bet that at least half of the guns that end up in psychopaths’ hands have once been owned by a family who were solely keeping them for means of protection. I understand wanting to keep your family safe, but for the very slim chance you ever even have to, there are other ways that won’t come back to bite you in the a** later. Just to name a few: knives, physical self-defense, or installing a security system are all beneficial and much less destructive to the world.

Yeah, I guess you could make the argument, “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.” But if that were the case, why would we even give others the opportunity to hold them in their hands? From a religious perspective, I’m sure God would come down and smack us upside the head if he saw that his creation created a mechanism used for killing other members of his creation. Cowering in the face of fear is completely different than refusing to use a vicious weapon to instantly end someone’s life without giving them a chance to redeem themselves.

The legendary ideograph where the hero saves the day and stops the villain with a gun is completely romanticized. In reality, there are only about 300 instances per year where a gun is actually fired for self-defense. You know how many times per year a gun has been used for suicide? 21,000. Unjustifiable homicides? 8,000. Accidental shootings? 500. Seems like an enormous price to pay for such a small chance of possibility.

I have no desire to own or even touch a tool whose sole purpose is to make killing easier. It’s nothing but a destructive device that just makes it ten times easier for humans to sin. Yes, people do kill other people, but why would we want to make that any easier by legalizing guns? This isn't one-sided by any means-- both parties are invested in this. It's much bigger than just a political standpoint now because this affects everyone. By stopping the production and selling of guns, wouldn’t it make sense that the homicide rate, number of suicides, and burglary quantity would go down?

Imagine a world with no guns. Burglars would be on the same playing field as the home owner, thus, being too afraid to break in. Mass killings would be rare, as it would only be a matter of time before the criminal caught and stabbed so many people before the authorities would arrive and people would flee the site. Suicidal individuals would think twice about their decision, because without guns, dying would take significantly longer and be much more painful. A world full of redemption, peace, and no weapons that can end a life in less than a millisecond. That is the kind of world I want to live in.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!
