Let's Talk About Odyssey
Odyssey Online

Joining Odyssey as become one of the best decisions, of my college experience. I love getting to share my opinions on topics I care about. Having a voice is one of the main reasons to absolutely love Odyssey! College students usually are left out or not heard when it comes to opinions of what is happening in the world. But, Odyssey allows college students to have a voice and give a whole different twist on any topic. This past month, I accepted the role of Odyssey Community Ambassador, and I am so excited! I can't wait to spread my love for Odyssey and writing!

I want to share with y'all some of the best things about Odyssey and why I love writing for this amazing company!

1. Topics are not limited to a prompt.

Isn't the best reason about sharing your ideas with many people, that Odyssey allows you to choose your own topics for your articles? Yes, it is amazing! This isn't like any writing you have done in your English classes, this is a lot better! I love writing, and getting to pick my own topics for each article, is beyond the best part! Also any topic, can be told millions of different ways, which is the best part of being able to chose our own topics.

Here are some of my favorite Odyssey Articles:

2. Helping people by sharing my personal experiences.

Your writing can help people who either felt alone or like no one understood what they are going through or went through in their life. Over the last seven months, I have shared some very personal articles that include some of my hardest situations I have gone through so far in my life.

Here is an example of an article I wrote that, I never thought could help anyone else, but surprised me:

"To The Boy I Gave Too Many Chances To" By Emily Craig

3. Readers are all over the world!

Yes, I just said the world! Sometimes articles can cross the globe and reach people who live far away from you! Through Social Media, we can reach anyone who is on the internet. Platforms such as, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Stumble Upon, Pinterest, Tumblr and more, that you can share your articles on weekly.

4. Finding friends with a love for writing.

Through my odyssey community, I have found friends that love writing just like me.

5. You don't have to be an excellent writer to be a writer for Odyssey.

When we say, "Writers Wanted. Apply today!" And the main response is, "I am not good at writing," etc. The best part about odyssey is, you don't have to be good at writing to join! Odyssey improves your writing skills and gives you a chance to share your ideas and opinions on a variety of topics.

6. Every voice matters!

High school and college students can now be heard on their opinions! No more being shushed by the media, you can now say what you've been wanting to say.

7. Leadership opportunities are awesome.

Let me start off with telling y'all a bit about the Odyssey Community Ambassador (CA), this role is where content creator can start building communities in places where Odyssey isn't offered yet. You will be giving people in those areas, I chance to share their opinions. Next, there is three stages of editing, but only one is local to the team along with a helper. The Editor-in-chief (EIC) edits the pictures, style and grammar of the articles in their community. Also there is a Contributing Editor (CE) , which is the EIC's sidekick. Depending on the community, if the CE is needed, they can help edit articles and to track social media posts along with helping rally the team.

8. You can write, submit and share articles from anywhere.

Wherever you have Wi-Fi for your Writers Dashboard, Microsoft Word, Notes on Cell Phone, or a notebook with a pencil/pen - you can write your articles! I love being able to connect anywhere and write because it just seems so easy to not have to stay in one place.

This is just a few reasons why Odyssey is the best and why I love writing for The Odyssey Online! Being a Content Creator and Community Ambassador is an amazing blessing in my life.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
