Let's Talk About Fall

Like, where is it?

Let's Talk About Fall
Huber's Orchard and Winery

Okay, we have to talk about fall. The official start of the season was September 21st, but it doesn't yet feel like fall. It's still 80-90 degrees everyday, we're wearing shorts and flip-flops, and sweating our butts off every time we step outside. I can't be the only one who is completely over this summer weather and ready to embrace everything good about fall. Channeling my inner basic white girl, I love fall and all things about it.

Boots/ sweaters/ and leggings. Anyone else? It eliminates the need for pedicures and shaving. Also, sweaters and sweatshirts hide those extra few pounds we've all put on from starting school again. I mean, who wants to wear real pants when you could just wear leggings? Another added bonus is that you get to be cozy all the time, and no one is going to judge you if you wear a sweatshirt two sizes too big.

Pumpkin picking and corn mazes. Sure, they're stereotypical fall things, and you can do them regardless of temperature, I guess. However, it just won't be the same going to the pumpkin patch in shorts and a tank top while I'm still burning up. These fall things almost require the air to be slightly cool and crisp to have the full fall experience.

Coffee. Even hot chocolate and hot cider, really any hot beverage. Maybe it's just me, but I can't drink a hot drink when it is hot outside. I'm the type of person who enjoys hot drinks only when it's chilly outside. It doesn't mean that we can't drink them now, but they're more enjoyable paired with cool fall weather. Only when it cools off will I be going to Starbucks to get a pumpkin spice latte.

Leaves changing. One of my favorite past-times in the fall is playing in the crispy yellow, red, orange, and brown leaves. Since it is still so warm outside, most of the trees are still green and still have their leaves. Even if you don't like playing in the leaves, or dread having to rake the leaves, you can still appreciate the pretty colors the leaves turn in the fall, but we have yet to see any color changes.

Bonfires. You can't deny that bonfires are the best in the fall. Sure, you can have them in the summer, but it's still hot. In the fall, the cool weather allows you to bundle up and cuddle up, and really enjoy the warmth of the fire. Until the weather cools down, bonfires are hard to truly enjoy. Not to mention, roasting marshmallows by the fire is ten times better when it's slightly chilly out so you can warm up by the fire.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
