Less hating, more praying.

Disclaimer: It doesn't matter if you voted for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, or whoever. This article is not about who won or my political views. It is about where we are now.

This whole election season has been one unlike any other. Never have I witnessed so much hatred, negativity, and division in my entire life. People put all values aside to get what they want. The Democratic and Republican division has always been evident, yet this time around it seemed to the extreme and things got violent. Many said neither of the presidential candidates was qualified for the position. Many said they were going to leave America. Many said hateful things about the opposed candidate. The list of negatives goes on and on. Now that we have a winner, in the past week, there have been a number of violent protests that have included attacks, refusing to go on with life, and even the burning of the United States flag.

It is at this point that some Americans have lost their cool. I want everyone to be reminded of the freedom that we have been blessed with in this country. The fact that we even are granted the privilege of voting and being a part of choosing who our leaders are is far better than many different countries all in itself. We have freedom of speech, religion, of the press, and, yes, protest. But when you begin burning the symbol of this country, the country that many have fought and died for, there is something terribly long. No matter your political views, race, sexual preferences, or income classification, we are all still Americans, and I think we have really lost sight of that.

We are also all children of God. God loves you. God loves me. God loves Hillary Clinton. God loves Donald Trump. God loves us all the same. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. I want to ask you, in the midst of this political season, how often have you prayed for the candidates individually? For our country? For our freedoms?

This country is in a very broken place. Only God can sew together the pieces.

So, let's "protest" from our knees. Less hating, more praying. Less division, more unity. Less defense, more surrender. Because it is clear that the only thing that is going to fix this country and what America needs the most, is some Jesus. Being reminded that we are free in this country, and free from sin due to Christ coming and sacrificing His life so that we may walk in that freedom. I challenge you, the next time you find yourself in a political argument or in the midst of protesting, instead of fighting back, you fall to your knees in prayer. Prayer is the most powerful thing on this Earth, and it's a perfect time to start using it.

Consider this scripture:

“Why do the nations rage and the people plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us." He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill." Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.”
‭-Psalms‬ ‭2:1-6, 10-11

Let us pray that the new leaders of this country be God fearing. Pray that the people of this nation will end their rage and vain. Pray that we can rejoice in the Lord and His everlasting faithfulness. Pray for peace among the nations.

Think, there have been many times in the past that we have not been a fan of our president right after they were elected. Has God made it work out? Yes. Will He continue to do so? Yes. In the end, it isn't about who the president of the United States is, because the Lord is President of Eternity, and He will never not be. Rest in this today.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
