Lets Make 2017 Better

Everyone has found a way to complain about 2016, so do something about it for the new year.

This year I won't any specific New Years Resolutions, just a few plans the make 2017 better than 2016.

To start off: no more complaining. Okay, this does not mean not complaining at all because we all have those days that we need to blow off some steam, but I mean less feeling bad for ourselves all the time. After the election, after a team loss with bad referees, or after a bad test grade that we may or may not have deserved what did we do this year? We complained. In 2017 when any of those things happen lets make a change. If you don't like the grade you got a a test, study more and actually attend class. If you are angry about a team loss, laugh it off and get ready for the next game.

Secondly, let 2017 be the year of appreciation. This sort of goes along with the not complaining thing. It is really easy to want things, and really easy to feel like you have nothing. Even when it comes to non-material things its easy to forget how good things are. In 2017 we can stop with the obsessive Instagrams of our new stuff and the never ending software updates (seriously Apple cut it my phone can't handle anymore). Let's appreciate our ugly shirts that we could afford to buy, lets appreciate the old tennis shoes that have gotten us through many days of working out, and lets thank the friends who make us crazy but also make us laugh. Kurt Vonnegut once said, "I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point 'If this isn't nice I don't know what is" Let this be the motto of 2017.

Making 2017 better doesn't all have to be about self-less life changes. Lets also make it better by canceling all shows on Disney Channel and just start over on that thing. Bring back the oldies but goodies like Lizzie McGuire so that kids don't have to suffer through five more seconds of whatever is on that channel right now.

To make 2017 better lets make to required that once a day everyone has to stop and watch an uplifting YouTube video of their choice. Whether its someone singing and making their dream come true on a TV show or a soldier coming home early they will be shown once a day.

Finally, and maybe most importantly let 2017 be the year that everyone starts watching good movies. I don't know if I can handle another Dirty Grandpa or Alvin and the Chipmunks 72. Lets all make a pact that in 2017, in order to be better people, we will watch better movies.

So throw away old resolutions that will be forgotten and given up on a week into 2017 and make a pact to make it a better year for everyone not just for you.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
