Let's Look On The Bright Side of 2016!

Let’s look on the bright side!

Many of you may be feeling pretty exhausted and depressed by the year 2016. I mean let’s be honest...Prince and David Bowie died, the 2016 general election was full of negativity, the shooting in Orlando, the Zika Virus Outbreak, and even Harambe died in Ohio.

However in the midst of naming 2016 as the worst year in history, there is still good in this world!!

Here is a list of things that might just restore your faith in humanity

1. Thanks to the ice bucket challenge the gene responsible for ALS has been found, which means we are closer to an effective treatment.

2. After an officer was killed, 4 days later cops from all over came to take his kid trick-or-treating Halloween night.

3. A boy named Ryan who was diagnosed with cancer at 16 told the Make A Wish foundation, “I wish to give my mom the wedding of her dreams.”

4. 8-Year-Old Noah completed a mini-triathlon with his disabled brother Lucas

5. Every Sunday, this New York Hair Stylist Gives Free Haircuts to the Homeless

6. An elderly man had a heart attack while shoveling his driveway. Paramedics took him to the hospital, then returned to finish shoveling his driveway for him

7. Jacqueline Kiplimo gives up winning first place in order to help a disabled runner finish a marathon in Taiwan.

8. Leonardo Dicaprio won an Oscar...finally.

9. People got married. Babies were born. Friends were made. Many were baptized. People got out of the friend zone. The unemployed got a new job. People beat cancer. Families were brought back together. Kids were adopted. The list goes on.

10. Lastly, be the change you wish to see in the world. Go and use the last several weeks to be positive, be kind, be the kind of person you want to see in the world!

Turn your frown upside down with a few happy thoughts each day...it can really make a difference! Be the Light

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
