‘Tis the season for Bowl games.

Starting Saturday, December 17th, one of the most entertaining, yet laid back, times in college sports returns.

Even though the ‘real deal’, aka the playoff, games don’t take place until December 31st, the NCAA is always sure to fill those two weeks with fun and eventful games.

The biggest news to come before Bowl games is that regarding Leonard Fournette. Word spread like wild fire that Fournette decided not to play in the upcoming Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, which ends his college football career.

Fournette and Coach Orgeron came to a mutual decision, saying it was best for Leonard not to play. The number one prospect for the 2017 NFL draft has had a high ankle sprain and bone bruise since a scrimmage in August. Fournette has since missed four games, the bowl game being his fifth.

Teammates showed their gratitude toward Fournette after he made his announcement on Friday. But the most supportive words came from Coach Orgeron himself. “We are grateful for all the years Leonard gave us, all the great memories, all the great games. Leonard was a great teammate. Every day he came to work. He was a joy to coach. Players love him. Little kids ascross the country emulate him, want to be like him.” He continued to say, “We know this is a tough decision for Leonard, but he has a bright future ahead of himself.”

There are plenty of games on this week. You now have an excuse to miss every day of work this week.

Are you ready for December 31st?

Bama. Washington.

THE Ohio State. Clemson.

Who ya got?

The perfect start to New Year’s for a college football fan. In just a few short weeks, the College Football National Championship contenders will be decided.

Until then…enjoy some bowl games.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
