Just a heads up: this article is raw and it is nasty because I am mad. Read on if you want.
This week, I was going to write about something relatively unimportant and personal. Like every week, it would have a cynical tone and a sprig of sarcasm on the side. However, stuff has happened in the world this week that has absolutely sucked. There is no other word for it. It is just not good.
I know you all are aware of the things that have gone on in the world this week. It's all over the news and Twitter and Facebook. It's smothering. People are spitting their opinions into the eyes of anyone who happens to strike up a conversation or debate--God help them. It makes me so angry and so confused at the horrible things and people who dominate the world right now. I know none of you all want to read another word about the president or natural disasters or death. I know I can't handle listening to these same topics anymore. I get so mad. I don't even need to use fancy words to convey it. I am so mad.
This week, I just have one request. That request is to become educated, even if it is by reading only an article or two. Please learn about what is going on in the world so you can actually contribute to the conversations. I'm going to list a few things that have absolutely turned my stomach so you'll have a starting point for your self-education, or you'll realize you share a common point with me and become as sickened as I am.
1. Trump
I know I will have many people who disagree with me about this or want to start a debate in the comments. To those people: please don't. I can not be told a single thing that will make me change my mind on that monster of a man. He makes my skin crawl. To people who agree with me, also do not write anything in the comments. I don't want to build any sort of "leftist army" so that people can say it was my purpose all along to create a "Trump-hating" article. I don't care what anyone says, good or bad. I hate that man. I loathe that man. Everything he has said, done, stood for, and the people he has given a platform make my blood run cold. Even while writing this, my eyes have glazed over with angry tears. Donald Trump, you make me want to vomit. You told Puerto Ricans that they really "threw the budget out of wack" after the US had to spend money to help them. You belittled the unthinkable fear and chaos that they endured by comparing this hurricane to a "real catastrophe like Katrina." These statements were just made. You have been spewing ignorant shit like this for almost a year now. I would spit in your face if I could. I hate you, you silly, unimportant, sub-human bitch.
2. Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is a part of the United States. They aren't a part of South America. They aren't out floating in the middle of the ocean. They are a fraction of this country. This hurricane devastated everything. Babies were clinging to their drowned mother's corpses. Hundreds and thousands of homes, workplaces, and other buildings are destroyed. Helpless animals drowned. Families were broken with the breaking of each wave. I don't care if only 16 people have been identified as dead. I don't care that Katrina killed thousands more. BOTH of these hurricanes are horrific. Any person who has to die with their lungs filling with water in their own homes and streets did not deserve that kind of death. Any person who had to leave behind their family pet knowing that they can't swim and barked and yelped as the waters went up past their little legs does not deserve that kind of anguish. Any person who has to pass their infant off to a stranger in order to save both the baby and themselves does not deserve that kind of heartbreak. I thank God that everyday people and celebrities alike have stepped up to donate food, money, supplies, and to spread awareness. It is heartening to see a country come together, but I hate that it only happens when things like this happen.
3. Las Vegas
The worst in US History. Think about that. You are living in a time when the deadliest shooting in the history of our country occurred. All of it happened at a concert. We won't be able to enjoy anything anymore for fear we are going to be shot. And the shooter had forty-seven guns. Automatic rifles. He was 64 and living in a nursing home like some freak. This crime was attributed to him being "distraught." You will burn in hell, you coward. You got up hundreds of feet above these people, took your guns, and opened fire. Then you shot yourself before the police could get to you. You don't even deserve to be named. I hope your name rots along with your pathetic soul. You killed people as young as me. Mothers and fathers have lost their babies. Parts of their bodies are splattered on the pavement. People felt their loved ones fall to the ground behind them after the bullet passed through their chests and hearts and heads. Now as far as people using this as reason to ban guns altogether, I disagree. As much as this event would make you think this is a good idea, it's not. I believe that in order to get a gun, you must pass an extensive background check, take a safety and handling class, get medically cleared by a psychologist, and can not buy any sort of assault rifle. A person does not need an AR in their home. I believe a family should have the peace of mind that comes with owning a pistol, BB gun, or shotgun to use for personal defense if the time ever came, but I disagree with anything more intense than that. The fact that this man was able to obtain forty-seven guns is a disgrace. Own a gun or two for hunting, protection, or collecting, but there is NO reason you need a machine gun in your possession. Gun permits should be as hard to get as citizenship in this damn country. This can be PREVENTED. How many times must we see this shit happen before a change is made? How many people will have to die? I am so exhausted by this conversation in our country. Do something or you could die too in a future freak gun attack. That would just suck then, wouldn't it?
Below I have attached videos of the various articles and videos that show you where I'm getting all my information. Please stay informed and question authority. It's bad. And it needs to end. Again, do not come at me with any sort of support of disagreement. I do not want to hear it. I wanted to say what has been on my heart for a while now and try to never think about it again. Pray for the present and future of this country. It would take an Old Testament miracle to fix this world.
