You Can Do Life Without God

Let go. Let God.

You Can Do Life Without God
John Taylor Gatto

I am going to let you know upfront that you cannot do life without God. You need him in all walks of life, and he wants you to follow the path he made for you.

Lately, God has put a lot on my heart, and I decided to use it and write about it. God has thrown a lot my way this summer. Some days I doubt him, most days I think I can walk through this world alone, but he shows me otherwise. When everything is going great in life, how many of you guys start leaning away from God? I know I do. When everything is happening for the greater good, I start to lose focus, and my eyes are not set on God.

That just it, I can't walk through life without him, and he proves that every day. Some days I find myself scattered brain, not knowing what to do, and other days I think I do this life on my own. God doesn't want you to go to him only when life is rough. He doesn't want you to only pray to him when life is hard. He wants you when you're broken, and he wants you when you're whole. We forget sometimes that God brought us out of the brokenness we were in. Instead of pushing him aside when life is great, we should be praising and worshiping him. We should not go to him when we are at a low point in life. We should go to him always.

This year, I struggled with finding time to praise Jesus. I started putting golf and school before him. I did not go to church every Sunday, and I slacked on reading my devotional. I only prayed when life was hard, and I only went to him when life was not going my way. I was looking for happiness in all the wrong places. I honestly thought I could do life without God. I only went to him as a band-aid when life didn't go my way. The entire time I focused more on school and less on God, he showed me why I needed him. When I started skipping out on church to go to the golf course, he made me realize my worth was not in golf or school. Boy, did I look like a fool? How selfish was I to put worldly things before of my creator? I decided every Sunday instead of going to church, I would focus on golf or homework. I made more time for what I wanted than what I really needed.

What I needed was alone time with Jesus. What I needed was an hour out of my day to go to church and then to the golf course. He clearly pointed out to me what I needed was better for me over what I wanted.

In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Who doesn't want to walk in the light? Why would anyone want to walk in the darkness without Jesus? I am telling you walking alone in this world without him isn't all it cracks up to be. Jesus wants you when you're weak and when life couldn't be better.

In Philippians 2:12-13 He tells us, "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." God is always there whether you feel him or not. he is always working in you.

So when you feel like you can take on this world alone, remember God wants us to follow him. He knows what's best for us whether we think so or not. Let your heart seek Jesus and not wander from him. Remember to always walk by faith and not by sight. He will do good in you, but you have to follow him and let him lead the way.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
