Let Go Of What You Can't Control

Personally, I have noticed that most of the time that I spent unhappy is the time that I spend worrying about everything around me. Is everyone around me happy? Is my family doing good? Am I doing everything that I need to be doing?

In reality, there is no rule book of life. There are no limitations on how much we are supposed to be doing in a day, or if we are in the right place at this exact point in our lives. If there was, life would be a lot simpler. For years I was always wondering what more I could be doing to be successful in life, or to be on top of things. Honestly, it felt like the world was falling on my shoulders. I began to wonder what would make my life easier, and how I could feel more free while still being able to accomplish everything that I want in life. We all have goals and aspirations, and things we want to do, and people that we want to meet, and places that we want to go. I believe there is a way to do all of these things, without feeling the weight of the world.

I constantly hear people saying life is short, live in the moment, among all other cheesy quotes we are told. As if hearing one of those quotes will solve one of those problems. For example, if you get broken up with or cheated on or you are having relationship issues it is not going to fix how you're feeling by someone telling you it is going to be okay! If words could fix problems... well, we would all be talking a lot more. Not that I am a whiz on life, but every day should be one you look forward to.

Advice: Let go of what you can't control, focus on what you can.

The world is a crazy, crazy place. Things happen everyday that we can't understand, and if we try to understand it we could be sitting around all day. From world issues, to personal issues and everything in between I would say more than half are things we can't control.

If you don't know what I mean, or if this is unrelatable let me put it into perspective.

Some things we can't control:

1. What others say.

2. What others do.

3. What others feel.

4. What others think.

5. The economy.

6. Traffic.

7. Tragedy.

8. Growing old.

9. The weather.

10. Physical/mental limitations.

11. The future.

12. The past.

13. Getting a disease.

14. What someone else thinks of you.

15. Most of life.

When someone says something stupid, let it go. Unless you have full control of a situation, the only thing you can do is try your best to give advice and do what you can to help. But letting it affect your everyday life, is not the way to go.

The world is changing everyday whether we want to grasp that or not. Stay true to who you are, let your true colors shine.

DON'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK. Don't try to change what you can't, and live and love to the fullest.

Things you can control:

1. What you want to do with your life

2. Who you surround yourself with

3. Being in a healthy relationship

4. How many times you smile today

5. How creative you are

6. Being a leader, or a follower

7. How hard you judge others

8. How strong you are, and how quickly you get back up again

9. How much you gossip

10. How often you let others know you care for them

11. Whether you believe what other people say about you

Don't take life to seriously, let go of what is out of our own hands.

Most importantly, don't apologize for who you are and what you want.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
