This semester has been terrible. From school work to drama, I feel like I've been non stop. I've pulled multiple all-nighters in the studio, made a few bad grades here and there, and had multiple break downs. Through it all, I've learned from these experiences.
1. Music helps.
The Hamilton soundtrack will get you through the rough patches. It's motivating, musically intriguing, and can carry you through those all-nighters in the studio.
2. Dating in college is hard.
Whether you are single, wanting to date, or you are in a relationship, it's still hard.
If you are single and wanting to find that certain someone, it can be difficult to actually find the time to search for a person you are looking for anywhere. My suggestion, if you have the time to, is to engage in as many activities as your schedule allows. The more people you meet better your chances of finding your knight in shining armor.
If you are dating already, then families will be inquiring what the future of your relationship holds, when's the wedding, and how many kids you'd like to have, or your relationship is constantly struggling due to college life. Maybe it's because you both don't have enough time in the day for each other, or maybe you spend too much time with one another and are paying the consequences with your grades. All I can say is, don't let things stress you out too much.
3. Focus on yourself.
This is the time to focus on yourself. You are finding your own identity. Don't let others try and change you. Don't rely on others to constantly piece you back together because, eventually, you will need to be able to survive on your own.
4. Making decisions can be tough.
If you are going to make bad decisions be smart about it. We all know college is notorious for parties, drinking, and bad choices. If you are one of those kind of party-every-night people, please, for your own good, make sure you use that white matter in that skull of yours to make plans to be safe in these endeavors. If you are invited to a party make sure you know people that are going so you will have safety. If you plan on drinking, then have a designated driver or call an uber. If you do the do, use protection. Don't put yourself in bad situations because you weren't thinking in the moment.
5. Drama is not worth it.
School is hard enough without drama. If youhave drama of any kind, address it. Don't let things go unchecked. Addressing a problem not only shows maturity but also decreases the stress by avoiding the anxiety of having drama. It takes boldness and courage to address your problems face on, but it is worth it. Communication is key. And, on that note, discern which battles should be fought and which are a waste of time.
6. Procrastination will get you.
It's bad. Time management is key to success and receiving enough sleep to function each day. Get sleep, because you can't function well without it.
7. Find time to do what you love.
If you make time for you, you will thank yourself in the long run. Spending time to destress with your favorite hobby or pass time will increase your productivity and ability to manage the baggage of college.
I hope you can learn from my experiences this semester. Please know that you can do all things through Christ, and enjoy your Christmas break.
