The Lessons That My Daycare Kids Taught Me

When I was supposed to be teaching them.

The Lessons That My Daycare Kids Taught Me

When accepting a part-time teaching job at a daycare I never expected for the kids there to have such an impact on me. These kids especially the one-year old's in my class have taught me life lessons. I know it sounds crazy, life lessons from one-year old's? However, these kids taught me to open up and live more. Before taking the job I was a shy person who refused to do anything in the slightest to embarrass herself. I realized from working so closely with them that no one cares how stupid you look dancing to "Baby Shark" or how silly the faces you make are. As long as you are doing what makes you happy that is all that matters.

Another main thing they have made me realize is that kids are the best. They can see through the fake happiness on even some of your worst days. While they don't know they do it or even mean to, they can make you forget even for a second what was wrong in the first place. They make you laugh by doing stupidly cute stuff. They can turn any bad day upside down even when you think it is impossible. Watching these kids is a highlight in my day and makes my heart happy.

These kids taught me the necessities of being a parent for when that time comes. Being an only child with no younger cousins I never had to learn the basics of changing a diaper, comforting a nightmare, or even kissing a scratch better. It's the little things like these that make me grateful to be their teacher. Being able to make a difference in their lives. Teaching them new words, hand motions to songs and colors. Teaching them the basic fundamentals is the least I can do for them getting me out of my shell.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
