The first year of college is like all four years of high school in one. Much like freshman year of high school, my first semester of college was fun. Fun is good, but in college the fun needs to have a limit. I have seen fellow students mess up and some do great, which has taught me some good lessons I will share with you using song titles.
1. "No" - Meghan Trainer
As enticing as that day trip to the beach may appear or good as that drink may look, almost every time it will be most beneficial for you to say "No" because that paper or outline will not complete itself.
2. "Work" - Rhianna
Although everyone warned me about the work load, it took some all nighters and a failed test to realize that I would really have to put in "Work" and not procrastinate.
3. "Get Used To It" - Justin Bieber
Not only in college, but in life I can only control Me. I have encountered situations ranging from condescending professors, bad co-workers to unreliable group members. I had to "Get Used To It" because it's, more often than not, unavoidable.
4. "Maybe You're Right" - Miley Cyrus
College is very stressful and busy, I barely had time to make this list. I have come to appreciate responding with "Maybe You're Right" to avoid pointless arguments or conversations.
5. "All I Ask" - Adele
I am not saying good things never happen but most professors, or potential employers, do not know you so if you need something you will have to ask. I have gone to many professors starting off with "All I Ask" and it usually pays off.
6. "The Show Goes On" - Lupe Fiasco
Regardless of how stressful life gets or sleep deprives I am, at the end of the day, "The Show Goes On.”
