SpongeBob was always my favorite show (even if my mom didn't let me watch it until third grade) . But now that I'm an adult, I've realized there's some really h*ckin profound life lessons hidden in its mediocre animation. Here are ten important things I learned from SpongeBob:

1. Don't be ashamed of who you are

Bad at sports? No problem! Tone deaf? Who cares! Ugly? Me too! In all seriousness, no matter who you are, you are YOU. You should be proud of your flaws, quirks, and weaknesses. They make you who you are.

2. Don't give your all to someone who doesn't care about you

I love people. I love giving to people. But there comes a point when you have to realize that some relationships in your life are toxic. Some people will never love you back. They will take and never give. And it's ok to realize this and let them go. You don't have to give everything to someone who gives you

It's normal to want to give up sometimes...

Sometimes life seems to give you only lemons, and you can't make lemonade. (Lemonade tastes pretty damn bad with just lemons, F.Y.I) You have classes, extracurriculars, social pressures, expectations, and you can't seem to juggle it all. The easy solution would be to just quit.

4. but don't!

Because as cheesy as it sounds, you truly can do anything (or at least like, 77% of things) you put your mind to!

5. There is a number that is funnier than 24

A true life lesson: 25 is funnier than 24. But seriously, Spongebob taught me to have an excellent sense of humor, and to laugh at anything (especially at inappropriate times).

6. Don't be afraid to question people

Someone make you uncomfortable? Talk to them about it. Someone did something and you're not sure why? Ask. Someone spout out a bunch of facts that kinda sounds like a wad of nothing? Question them. Confused? Ask questions!

Speak up for yourself

Similar to #6. It's ok to be shy. But don't become a push-over that consistently sacrifices their own comfort. Speak up! Your opinions matter. Stand up for yourself. People will thank you ( or at least respect you) for it.

Always be respectful of other people's customs

I feel like this one speaks for itself.

9. Don't let (attempted) negativity get you down

People will try to insult you. They'll doubt you. But you aren't defined by this negativity--you are defined by how you respond to it.

10. And finally, anything is possible with a little imagination.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
