8 Lessons From Hannah Montana

I have been watching an absurd amount of Hannah Montana, so here are some things I have learned.

8 Lessons From Hannah Montana

Babysitting this summer was simply my only working option, ya know with this whole pandemic thing happening. While babysitting does not have the same perks that working at a law firm or in a government job would have for my future, it has its own set of perks. For example, the little girl I babysit has a pool. She also has a perspective that I have been missing - those childhood glasses that make everything rainbow and sparkly. She aspires to be a dog walker when she grows up, and she does not understand why we cannot ride bikes all day long (my legs by the end of the summer, y'all better watch out). She also 100% believed me today when I told her that my ex boyfriend's name is Voldemort. She asked if his mom liked Harry Potter. I said oh yeah. What she also has given me is the opportunity to shamelessly watch the icon that is Hannah Montana once again. While I do watch the Hannah Montana Movie often, I have not watched the episodes themselves since I was thriving at Spottsville Elementary. Now that I watch it 5 days a week, let me drop some blonde wig bedazzled knowledge on ya.

Being Yourself Is Ideal

Giphy

Miley is ALWAYS herself. She gets in pickles, but she is true to who she is. She approaches every situation without thinking about how people will perceive her. I love it.

Having Two Good Friends is More than Enough

Giphy

Lily and Oliver keep Miley having fun and in light hearted trouble. She isn't the most popular person in her school, but she is content with her two best friends.

Embarrassing Moments are part of Life

Giphy

It takes so much to embarrass me, but boy when I get embarrass it takes me a few days for it to wear off. Miley just walks it off as soon as it happens, and that is the recovery time I am aiming for.

Being Close with your Family is Fun

Giphy

She is so close with her family, and it reminds me of mine. I love hanging out with my family, and so does she. Having family to be close with is something I appreciate more than anything, and watching Hannah Montana makes me appreciate it even more.

Not everything is about Relationships

Giphy

So many seasons and movies yet only a handful of boy drama. She isn't obsessed with the male species, she just lives her life and they're a portion. Another thing I love watching the little girl I babysit soak in.

Forgiveness should be Frequent

Giphy

Whew this one is hard but Miley makes it simple. The amount of forgiveness that is exchanged within her family and friends is insane. They forgive and they communicate about what bothers them. It's so healthy and heart warming honestly.

Sometimes its okay to be Materialistic

Giphy

LISTEN! I consciously try to not be materialistic. I love well decorated homes and shoes and perfect outfits. I also feel like a new woman every time I buy something. Hannah/Miley makes shopping fun and simple, and I think that's okay sometimes.

Confidence is Key

Giphy

The best message for last. She approaches situations with complete confidence. I love this quality in every single human that I have in my life, and I love that I was taught to love this at such a young age. Thanks Hannah.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
