Ru Paul's Drag Race is a competition between many drag queens all over the United States and including Puerto Rico, and is now on its ninth season. These queens compete in photo shoots, creative sewing products, and runway challenges. Though Drag is such a taboo subject in some households, it is an amazing art and should be accepted and should be praised as a true art.

Each drag queen has their own name, personality, and style. These queens must have many skills, such as being personable, having style, standing out of the crowd, sewing skills, and of course, to be fierce, sassy, and sickening. Many queens are hilarious, but if you have the knack, the look, the walk and the talk, you can compete without breaking a sweat.

Doing Drag is a handful. Usually those who start drag have a part-time/full-time job they still need to handle, on top of doing stage performances, creating outfits, perfecting the way they do their makeup, fixing/creating wigs, and memorizing songs to lip-sync to, which is traditionally what queens do on stage. Not only must they juggle this, but many queens also have children and families they still must look after. Drag isn't just a hobby, it's a full-time job for many.

These wonderful individuals who do this not-so-little task each have huge stories which are displayed on the show. Some come from bad homes, have illnesses, and just amazing stories of triumph and overcoming obstacles. These stories relate the contestants to their audience, because many of us have dealt with the same struggles as these queens have.

Not only do the contestants have stories to tell, but honey, are they entertaining too!

Since the show films back stage also, we get to see the queens verbally duke it out mano y mano. From the insults to the back handed complements, these queens know how to tell each other off, and it makes for the excitement that I need in my life after working from 9 to 5.

From the skill, talent, and nerve these queens have, this show is something you should keep your eye on if you want a change in your Netflix-watching repertoire.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
