I'm going to be completely honest for a moment. Despite being 21 years old, I DO NOTfeel like an adult. And I know I'm not the only one who feels this way! Many others my age (and even older) feel like they're stuck between teenagehood and adulthood. Here are the top 10 reasons why my being considered an adult is absurd.
1. My wardrobe looks like a unicorn and a comic book had a child together.
The "professional" section of my closet takes up about 5% of my closet; the other 95% is taken up by clothes that are either A: brightly colored, B: have a comic book/movie/cartoon/character or a design.
2. I live on peanut butter crackers, applesauce, fast food and whatever takes less than 5 seconds of effort.
I don't have the time, energy or concentration to make myself something. Plus, I'm literally fulfilling 5-year-old me's food dreams.
3. I literally have no clue how taxes work.
My parents have explained it to me a million times and I zone out at about the 30 second mark; my brain just can't handle complicated crap like that.
4. Some people have a 5 year plan. I maybe have the next 5 minutes.
Maybe I'll take a nap. Maybe get some food. Might have some dragons show up. Who knows?
5. I wait to do laundry until I have absolutely nothing left to wear.
It's not that I hate doing laundry, it's that I space out and lose track of time and the next thing I know, it's two days later and I have nothing left to wear.
6. I'd rather shove bamboo under my fingernails then try to make a budget.
All I know is all bills are paid and I still have money left. That counts for something!
7. My sleep schedule is more upside down than Iggy Azealea's career.
I love to stay up until ungodly hours of the night, but I also like to sleep for 16 hours and I like going to class and doing social things. DO YOU SEE MY PROBLEM?!?!
8. I don't know when to stop.
Food. Money spending. Sleep. Drinking. Boys. TV shows.
9. Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and PBS are still my favorite channels.
Come on! Who doesn't love Power Rangers, Blue's Clues and Barney?!?!
10. Whenever I have to go to the doctor, I drag along a parent. That way, when the doctor asks "What's wrong?", I can look at said parent so they can explain.
A: Because both of my parents are in the medical field. B: I was dragged here and to be honest, I had no clue I was sick.
