This Christmas, Leonardo DiCaprio will be starring in "The Revenant." This will be his 28th film, and we can only assume that his performance is nothing less than his usual effort. While our boy, Leo, has never won an Academy Award, he has been nominated five times and most argue that he should have been nominated more than that.
There is no doubt that Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most talented actors out there, but he hardly ever gets the recognition. Well, he’s really going after that Oscar this year with "The Revenant." In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, DiCaprio admitted to eating raw bison and sleeping in animal carcasses on set for the movie. The film is set in the 1800s and follows a frontiersman as he explores the wilderness and runs into trouble. DiCaprio’s character, Hugh Glass, is left for dead by his hunting team which forces him to trek through the frozen terrain by himself.
It is well know that DiCaprio is dedicated to his work, but has sleeping in animal carcasses gone too far? While it may be realistic to the story for Hugh Glass to try and stay warm, DiCaprio goes the extra mile by using a real carcass rather than a prosthetic. According to the interview, DiCaprio was actually disgusted by the act, but director, Alejandro González Iñárritu, liked his natural reactions and decided to keep them in the film. Iñárritu probably knows what he is doing, since he has actually won an Oscar for his 2014 film, "Birdman."
We will have to see if DiCaprio’s performance is as stellar as it has been in the past. While he is almost unrecognizable in his leading role, DiCaprio has for sure got the world’s attention with his most recent stunts. "The Revenant" will definitely be a must see this December.
