Do you wake up feeling fabulous on a daily basis? Are you too sassy for life? Do you often feel compelled to smile at yourself in every reflective surface you see? Are you a kick-ass leader with an ambition that far surpasses your peers? Feeling passionate about everything?

Were you born between July 23 and August 22?

Of course-- it's because you're a Leo.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, we have just approached the prime Leo time of year.

And not the DiCaprio kind-- even though he's pretty awesome, too. But here's why being the zodiac symbol, Leo, is even more awesome.

1. Leos don't take sh*t from anyone.

Leos are the alpha dog (or lion, rather). Leo is ruled by the sun, and with that, comes a fiery personality and temperament. If you're a Leo, you call the shots and you hold your own well. If somebody doesn't like it, you tell them to get to steppin'.

2. A Leo is hilarious.

Your sense of humor is impeccable if you're a Leo. Your friends always lean on you for a good joke when they're down. At parties, you're the one cracking jokes over the beer pong table.

3. The world revolves around Leos.

You love attention, and everyone knows it. Whether you want to be admired or not (and Leos do), something about being a Leo is gravitating. When all eyes are on you, you're happiest.

4. A Leo excels at problem-solving.

Being a Leo, you often approach any problem with momentum and optimism. Leos tend to be very emotionally intelligent and take the initiative when faced with complicated situations.

5. Leos always know what they want.

Leos are never uncertain. They set a path and are determined to follow it. Leos, like Blair Waldorf, always get what they want. They are experts at manipulation, but mostly, Leos are successful because they are driven and passionate.

6. Loyalty is important to Leos.

Leos are in it for the long haul. They are compassionate beings who always have your back. If you're a Leo, you'll do anything, and you mean anything, for a friend or a significant other. However, if you betray a Leo, they'll cut you out of their life without hesitation. Leo ain't got time for that.

7. A Leo is self-confident.

A Leo is proud of who they were, are, and who they will be. They will announce it to everyone without a care in the world. They have a strong self-image. Leos aren't concerned with what others think of them. After all, a lion doesn't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep!

8. Leos are destined for success.

Persistency is key for Leos. They will stop at nothing to be successful. They have a vision, and they will overstep their boundaries if it means putting themselves on a righteous path. This can be harmful sometimes, though, but Leos mostly have good intentions. As driven as Leos are, there's no way that they won't fulfill their wildest dreams.

9. A Leo is optimistic.

It doesn't matter how detrimental a situation is, a Leo always looks on the bright side. They are always seeking the good in situations and in people. A Leo is a constant positive light to be around. Their love of life is contagious. Sometimes optimism is all they have, but it's enough.

10. Leos are irresistible.

In friendships, people dote on a Leo because of their generosity--one of their strongest suits. In relationships, a partner could expect a Leo to be adventurous and passionate. Leos love to love. They emanate seduction and sincereness.

11. Leos value resilience.

Everyone knows that Leo is withstanding, no matter how tough the situation. Sometimes, it comes off as stubborn. A Leo stays strong under the heavy hand of life. They will never compromise their beliefs, even if the stakes are high. Leos are built tough, and they will never back down.

12. Leos surround themselves with lots of friends.

A Leo leads a very busy life, giving them ample opportunity to meet people. This calls for tons of friends. Leos love the social scene and showing off their friends at celebrations or parties. A Leo is anxious for affection, but they are just as happy to dish it out. Usually Leos have #SquadGoals.

13. We da best!

The Leo is the finest zodiac sign there is. If you're a Leo, make sure to enjoy this time of the year...it's our time to shine!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
