"Lenny Letter" — What It Is And Why You Should Sign Up

Are you a woman? Great. A feminist? Even better. Just to be clear, asking if you're a feminist is not me asking you if you're a radical man-hater. If I wanted to know that I would have asked, "Are you a radical man-hater?" Now that that's cleared up, I want to introduce you, friend, to one of my favorite people: Lena.

Lena Dunham has been my guide through all of the gross negativity that surrounds modern feminism today. Her book, "Not That Kind of Girl," is an ode to women making their way in this world. Her book has been sold by the millions because her hilarious essays speak candidly about the most avoided topics in womanhood. But the book isn't entirely focused on weird sex stuff: body acceptance, growing up, and oddly enough death are prominently featured. After reading through the whole thing, twice, I knew that this woman got me. She got me, she got my mom, my aunts, my girlfriends, my teachers, and so on.

Then, about two months ago, I discovered that Lena Dunham and her longtime friend and co-creator of the HBO series "Girls" Jenni Konner were creating a newsletter dedicated to all things Lena: feminism, health, style, and politics. I was stoked. Still am.

"Lenny Letter," Dunham's most recent brainchild, exists for the same community of strong millennial women that Lena encountered while on her "Not That Kind of Girl" book tour. The newsletter's mission is to exist for women who care about furthering education on relevant, feminist issues. There are many passionate, intelligent women out there in the world, and Lenny is there to help these women stay connected.

The newsletter speaks to this community through interviews, essays, and personal accounts from Lena and her many female co-publishers. Lenny includes contributions from well known friends and like-minded acquaintances such as Jennifer Lawrence, Hillary Clinton, attorney general of California Kamala Harris, and actress Jenny Slate. These women write about issues such as the pay gap between men and women, the recent defunding of Planned Parenthood, and on the lighter side, vajacials. Yes, vagina facials.

Does the newsletter have a certain political left-ness to it? Sure. This can be a turn-off for women that identify themselves with the otherparty. But you don't necessarily need to be a liberal to enjoy (or even benefit from) Lenny. I know a lot of Republicans that love Jennifer Lawrence.

So my final piece of advice to you, friend, is to check out the "Lenny Letter." Sign up today! You can always unsubscribe. And I will bet that you will learn more about strong women in the world, style, and current issues than you did before you joined Lenny — and you'll laugh a little too!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
