Lego Worlds: The World Builder We All Needed

The days of joystick gaming are almost lost to the world forever. No more two-dimensional brick laying or yellow circular blobs eating smaller circular blobs for points. No, we are at the time in gaming history where we demand creativity. Minecraft started that a few years ago, but Lego Worlds is changing the world building, exploring, and riding of replica Lego creatures with their expansion to the console world. Instead of three-dimensional cubes of land or material, simply pick a Lego brick shape, color, and start singly placing your bricks or shoot them out all at once with the build tool.

I can't comment much on Minecraft, since the last time I played that beautifully scored game was about three years ago while I was babysitting, but there weren't quests involved. Grab your stone or wood shovel and get digging! Look out for the Creepers and make sure you have enough meat for yourself. Or you could jump into creative mode and build the castle replica of Hogwarts, although many survivalists will argue that the creative mood is technically cheating at the game. There is none of that hoopla in Lego Worlds. Death is possible, endless creativity is possible through finding brick elements, and there is distinct creatures and people you encounter in the various biomes throughout the game. Not to mention the built-in optional quests with the main goal to become a master builder.

I'm not trying to say that Lego Worlds is perfect though. Minecraft still has the edge with easy of building. I find myself simply placing down pre-built structures more in Lego Worlds, simply to the lack of ease of the build tool within the game. Each Lego piece is replicated from actual Lego pieces, automatically screaming danger to those who simply want to make something quick. Is that what master builders do, though? Nope. Attention to detail is a part of the game, while allowing those quick moves, but to build that replica castle, you'll need to set aside major time, more than those pesky cubes that placed oh so easily.

Another thing Lego Worlds has over the competition is the brand name. Who doesn't love Lego? Sure, Minecraft has built a brand and started the world building genre for the generation of gamers' today, but Lego is Lego. All I'm saying is find yourself an eagle in the game and fly around the various biomes. The game is gorgeous, still a little wonky due to needed patch updates, but overall a way to let your mind really expand past the stereotypical limit many past games have kept on its' players.

Has anyone seen the legendary 2x6 brick anywhere?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
