5 Legit Excuses To Procrastinate On Homework

Justifiable - but only if you actually do them.

If you're reading this, there's a 99% chance you're bored in class and would rather read an Odyssey article than pay attention. Let's be real - who isn't a procrastinator in this day and age? In order to help you feel just a tad better for, once again, leaving all your work until the very last minute, here are 5 ways you can procrastinate but still feel productive.

1. Fixing your resume

That resume format from high school probably needed an intense makeover anyways. Not only can you brush up on your accomplishments (or the lack thereof), you can re-motivate yourself by adding skills to your resume that you honestly don't have yet, but plan on picking up before your next big interview.

2. Searching and applying for an internship

At the end of the day, jobs > grades. C's get degrees, but a bad resume and a lack of internship applications won't be getting you any jobs. If that application deadline is tomorrow and it fits the criteria you've been searching for, then put aside your homework and apply. You just might end up at that company for a summer internship!

3. Prepping your meals

Your stomach and your wallet will thank you for the rest of the week, so don't feel bad for spending a few hours cooking instead of doing your work. You'll feel like a responsible adult afterwards, basically cancelling out that guilt from procrastinating.

4. Calling your family

Of course, calling your family should not come to your mind only when you need to procrastinate on homework, but it's a great way for you to make sure you stay in touch with them. The higher the frequency of procrastination, the closer you will become to your parents and siblings. What a wholesome situation.

5. Watching @buttdog's vlogs on YouTube

It's always a good idea to watch Brian's vlogs no matter the occasion! From volleyball clips to Habanero pepper eating sessions, there's always something great about his vlogs!

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
