The Mariners are walking into this season in high regards. They're already a potential playoff coming into the season. They have great pitching staff and seems to have offensive momentum's. However, this season one of the played down subjects is how good the Mariners offense has the potential to be.
Last season, Robinson Cano appeared to be worth the large sum of money the Mariners paid for. Cano not only lead the team offensively, but also displayed natural leadership with his team. Kyle Seager lit the fuse, as he began to come on in the second half of the season.
Unfortunately, Mariners still had some slight struggles offensively and were unable to make the playoffs.
In the off-season, the Mariners have acquired Nelson Cruz. Nelson Cruz was a monster last year. He was the stud of the oriloes. The Mariners now have the chance to have something special, the Legion of the Boomstick.
When you hear this, you're probably assuming I am talking about the Seattle Seahawks: Legion of Boom. Though I am not directly talking about the Legion of Boom, I do use this example as cultural reference. The Legion of Boom is a reference to the most dominant and feared defensive player on the Seattle Seahawks. The Legion of Boom consists of Richard Sherman, Byron Maxwell, Kam Chancellor, and Earl Thomas. They have all developed a cultural brotherhood to which has made them into the top-notch defense that Seattle Seahawks have. This same cultural brotherhood could seek into the Mariners offense this year.
The Mariners could see a furious offensive line that will consist of the potential best offensive group in Major League Baseball. The Legion of the Boomstick will consist of Robinson Cano, Kyle Seagar, Nelson Cruz, and Logan Morrison.
