Leggings ARE Pants

Yes, I know my shirt doesn't cover my butt and no, I don't care.

Leggings ARE Pants

I think it's safe to say that leggings and a sweatshirt or a cute sweater might be everyone's go-to outfit, especially for those of us in school. It doesn't really matter what we wear day-to-day unless we have a special event or an important meeting.

Recently a video entitled, "Leggings ain't pants," went viral with over 250,000 shares. The video is of a woman ranting about how leggings cannot be considered pants. Her main argument is that she does not think leggings could be, or should be, considered pants. She says that she loves wearing leggings because she can dress them up or down and they're very comfortable. However, she gives us a few rules to abide by when it comes to how we are supposed to wear them (some I agree with, some I disagree with).

Her first rule is that everyone should wear a shirt or a top that covers your "tail." I don't completely agree with this one. Why does it matter if your shirt is long enough or not? Leggings aren't the only type of pants that are body hugging. If your shirt isn't going to cover your backside, then it should definitely not be tight on you because that just isn't flattering on anyone. A loose top that doesn't go all the way down, I think, is acceptable. The one time I think your top should cover your butt is when the leggings are see through, which brings us to the next rule.

Her second rule is that they should not be see through. This is hard because a lot of times we don't try on leggings in the store. Not everyone is willing to pay over $30 to get a nice pair. I think it's important to have one or two pairs that aren't see through so you can wear any shirt with them. If they do happen to be see through, even without bending over, then the shirt really should cover your butt. Let's be honest, we love buying $3 leggings from Forever 21. Plus, they always end up with holes in them, no matter how much they cost, so splurging on a pair of everyday leggings is not ideal.

Her last rule is that white leggings "are a big ole no-no." Depending on your age, I agree with this one. If you're under 10 or 11 years old then it can be cute. Adults, however, should not be wearing white leggings. They are bound to get dirty and just look gross because they're going to pick up visible dirt everywhere.

Honestly, there are worse clothing items in this world that we need to worry about, not leggings. We all wear them and no one can stop us.

Everyone has to be the judge for themselves to realize that perhaps one shirt does not work with a specific pair of leggings. If you're still not convinced that leggings ARE pants, read this article; it will probably change your mind.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
