Did Trump fool all of us?

I recently saw a video of Trump, and it was one of the most controversial videos I've ever seen of his. That is saying a lot for him. The video was basically Trump stating that he said things to get elected. Saying that he said whatever his campaign manager told him to, and he went with it. He said this in front of thousands of his followers, and at different campaign stops on his victory campaign. He specifically said that he wasn't going to lock Hillary up, and that was something that he promised continuously throughout his campaign. The best part is that this happened in front of his supporters. The people that thought he was going to do all the things he said, and the people that were tired of being lied to by politicians. Can you even imagine how they must feel now? Knowing that they played into the hands of a man who is acting exactly like a politician.

The best part of all of this, is that the far right and far left thought I was stupid for thinking he wasn't all that he seemed. I have been saying for months that this guy was saying what people wanted to hear, and unfortunately America is horrible enough that what we wanted to hear was racist, sexist campaign promises. It's pretty sad if you think about it. Most of the nation has now proved to everyone that we would rather stick by racism and sexism than actually take steps forward.

I hope that this opens people's eyes to what our nation has become. We are a nation struggling to figure out if we want to progress human rights, or take them away. This year we decided we wanted to take them away, and I think that says a lot about us. Maybe the next four years will open the nation's eyes to the hatred problem we have.

We need to be a nation where Muslims that have supported this country are allowed to openly practice their religion, just like every other religion in our country. We need to be a nation that doesn't persecute people that have different color skin than us, and instead celebrate our diversity and the things that make us unique. We need to be a nation that allows men and women to be celebrated as equals, versus making one to be superior to the other. And these statements go for racist people of color and feminazis. If we are to make positive steps, everyone is going to have to work together to reach a compromise on their beliefs. The only way we can make this work is with compromise.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
