Being left-handed, I've learned that the world is made for right-handed people. There are so many things that left-handed people have to deal with on a daily basis that right-handed people don't have to even think twice about.
Some of the worst things that a left-handed person has to deal with are spiral notebooks. Trying to write over and around those dumb metal spirals is a lot harder than it looks. Most of the time the writing closest to the spiral ends up looking like a kindergartener wrote it, while the other half looks completely normal. Don't even get me started on binders, they're just as annoying.
Anytime someone sees you writing with your left hand their reactions are always the same. They say, "Oh my goodness, I didn't know you were left-handed!" Then they'll end up asking you to show them what your hand writing looks like with your right hand and are actually shocked when it's a total mess.
Left-handers are set apart from the rest when it comes to sports. You have to learn how to do things differently from everyone else. If you are left-handed, you have to learn how to do what your coach is teaching the rest of your team, but backwards from the right-handed people. This can be really confusing when you're a 9-year-old trying to learn how to play volleyball and have no idea what you're doing.
Assigned seats at all restaurants are a must. You know that if you don't get that seat on the end that you'll be bumping elbows with whichever lucky person gets to sit beside you that night. The constant complaining about your arm being in the way is always nice to hear.
One thing that every left-hander knows to be true is that writing with pens and not getting ink on your hands is nearly impossible. You usually end up having more ink on your hands than actual notes on the paper and the notes are always smudged anyway (especially if you wrote them in a spiral notebook).
Have you noticed that most cute things are made for right-handers too? Take mugs for instance, the cute designs are printed on the side of the mug that is showing when a right-handed person drinks from it, aren't on the outside when left-handed people drink from it. Lefties are forced to keep the cuteness of their mug to themselves.
Don't get me wrong, I love being left-handed! Its part of what makes me unique. My favorite part about being left-handed is that moment when you find out that someone that you know is left-handed and you instantly become best friends. All left-handers understand what its like to deal with all of the pains of living in a right-handed world. Right-handed people just don't understand the struggle like we do.
