Before the 2015 NBA Finals, LeBron James was without a doubt the best player in the NBA. However, ever since Stephen Curry led his Golden State Warriors to victory against an injured Cavs team in the 2015 Finals, LeBron’s standing as the best in the league has been in question.

Since his debut in 2004 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James has been an unstoppable force on the court. He caused one of the largest controversies when he decided to venture away from Cleveland to play for the Miami Heat. Whether it was playing for Cleveland or Miami, LeBron has held the role of team leader, leading the Miami Heat to two consecutive titles and giving Cleveland its best chance at a championship in nearly 50 years.

Stephen Curry had his debut in 2009 with the Golden State Warriors and is the son of NBA legend, Dell Curry. Stephen Curry has since then developed himself into the basketball phenom who seems to have an unlimited shooting range. Even after returning from injury, he found a way to galvanize Golden State fans as he scored 40 points in game 4 of the second series of the 2016 NBA Finals against the Portland Trailblazers.

Curry has recently received the M.V.P. award of this year, however, this was a unique M.V.P. award, as it was a unanimous decision during the voting, a first in NBA history. This left a lot of people arguing if Curry should have been the first unanimous NBA M.V.P. and asking why it wasn’t LeBron, as he has four M.V.P. awards of his own. As NBA fans are anticipating a true Golden State vs. Cleveland (with a healthy roster) showdown during the 2016 NBA finals, the LeBron vs. Curry feud, which had been based on team leader vs. team leader, has now evolved into who’s the better M.V.P.

People argue that Curry is the better M.V.P. since he led his team to defeat the almighty Cavaliers, particularly LeBron James.

Others argue that Lebron is the better M.V.P., as he is a better leader, leading his teams to 11 NBA final appearances and calming two NBA championships.

So who’s the better M.V.P.? The answer is there is no correct answer.

Lebron James has proven to be the better leader and has taken two professional teams to heights that would have been unseen without him. Lebron is arguably the better defender of the two as well.

Stephen Curry, on the other hand, while lacking a lot of leadership advantages due to his young age, has completely changed how the game is played by consistently doing things that have never been seen before. He’s the "new thing."

At this point in time, the answer as to who the better M.V.P. is, LeBron or Curry, is based on personal preference.

This is because both players still have a lot of room for improvement and still have long careers ahead of them. At this point, it’s too hard to deem one better than the other, as LeBron has been in the NBA nearly twice as long as Stephen Curry, so the stats are incomparable.

Once Curry and LeBron start to reach the conclusion of their careers, it may then be easier to identify who the better M.V.P. really is.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
