This interview is with a friend I met in New Hampshire while I worked at a rich kids summer camp. While we weren't with the kids we were making half court shot bets and you can pretty much guess who won. I can tell you one thing though the man CJ knew how to find great eating spots when we had our days off. All around cool guy who is also a great hockey player. Let's get to the interview!
Q:Who are you?
1.My name is CJ Emery I am 20 years old. You can follow me on Instagram @cjemery.
Q:How'd you find out about LeBron James?
2.I found out about lebron James mostly from being in LA and hearing people talk about wanting to see a lebron Kobe matchup.
Q:First reaction when you saw him play?
3.I can't remember the first time I ever saw him play. But everytime I've seen him play since ive started to get into basketball all I can ever really think about is how dominant he is.
Q:Favorite LeBron Game?
4.Not a favorite game but favorite series was his last finals in Cleveland. The way he carried his team all the way to the finals and managed to make a couple of those games close is nothing less than incredible.
Q:Player's Biggest Weakness?
5.I think his biggest weakness was worrying about his legacy too much. I can't really blame him for that since he's had to live with the Lebron MJ discussion for the past 10 years but I think it's hurt his rep. I also think on the court he's been guilty of trying to make too much happen.
Q:Biggest Strength?
6.I think his biggest strength is his IQ. He is unlike probably any other player in any other sport (besides Gretzky) in his ability to read the game. That is why he has been able to do so much with so little.
Q:First reaction when he won his first championship?
7.I was happy for him. It took a lot of guts to leave that bad situation in Cleveland that was his home town that he had put up with for so long. Obviously I wasn't thrilled with how he did it but I mean they made it work within the rules so I can't be mad.
Q:Thoughts on LeBron v Jordan V Kobe?
8.I've got lebron then MJ then Kobe. I think raw stats matter mire than finals wins and Lebron beats Jordan in most of those stats easily. I also think lebron has a more well rounded game than Kobe and also aged better than he did (as a lifelong lakers fan those last couple years were tough to watch). Lebron often catches flak for not having a "killer instinct" but I've always chalked that up more to his self awareness than anything else.
Q: Predictions for him this season?
9.I think in my biased opinion that he has a good shot of winning a title this year. So far he's seemed really willing and able to turn over more and more control to AD and other guys in the team. He's also playing more defense than he has in previous years. He won't put up the same points as he usually has but I see him going 23-10-7 with a couple of monster games when he feels like he needs to turn on the jets and take control.
Q:Predictions for rest of career?
10.I think he will continue to age gracefully much like Wade where he accepts more limited roles. He also relies more on IQ and less on athleticism then some other stars so that can extend his longevity. I think he'll win 1-2 rings in LA and then maybe another 1-2 over the rest of his career and retires after a season with his son (maybe tries to win one with him depending on the team.)
Shout out to my boy CJ for the awesome interview!!!! Just hoping all this basketball talk makes him a better half court shooter but I highly doubt it. I look forward to running into him again so I can beat him again.
