When you are in high school you will have summer assignments, its inevitable. Depending on what classes you take (AP classes will have more work than most) you will have a variety of things to complete over the summer. Read one book and write a paper about it, keep a current events journal, and many other reading comprehension type assignments. Also, depending on what grade you are going into, the more work you will have, an incoming freshman will have much less work to complete compared to an incoming junior.
After everybody finished school, and you get your summer assignments you think that you are going to get ahead of the game and get all of it done so you can have a relaxing summer. The problem that almost everybody runs into is the fact that we all have just finished exams and think "I have all the time in the world, why would I start now?" That mentally seems like it would work out really well but most people leave it to the last week of the summer, and they have to work a miracle to finish everything that they are meant to.
Leaving it to the end can mean that you had a great relaxing summer and you wanted to get the most out of the time you had. The problem is everyone wants to have the most relaxed summer, so they can rest and be the best they can be for the upcoming year. However if you are rushed and stressed in the last week of the summer you will not be completely rested for the year.
It would be the best for everybody to do all of their summer work gradually throughout the summer, or set goals. You could think that you are going to finish one classes work per month- depending on how much work you actually have to do, and the amount of classes. we have all been in the position when we have procrastinated and it is the absolute last minute and felt how rushed it can become. Obviously everyone wants to have the best summers of their lives when they are in high school but setting apart a bit of time every week or so to do some summer assignments, it would really pay off in the long run because you will be the best self that you can be going in to the upcoming school year.
