Leaving Your Roommates For The Summer As Told By Michael Scott
Weekly Life & Style

When you live together for a year, your roommates become your family. You can tell how their day went simply by how they walked in the door. You know where they are at a specific time of day. You bond over countless hours of obsessing over a Netflix show or piling four people onto one bed for life talks. And yes, you even bicker about who is going to tackle the ever growing pile of dirty dishes and garbage. But no matter how many times you secretly wished for the school year to quickly come to an end so you could say "Good Riddance!" to the cringe-worthy dishes, you actually never wanted to leave your beloved roomies.

But now summer is here and you are forced to depart for the next three months. The three longest months of your life because you will no longer be able to shout through the walls to see who wants to run to Barbs with you. You pack your bags and head out the door holding back all feelings because you don't want to be sappy. But one night at home is all it takes for you to realize how much you really and truly miss your roomies.

1. When you realize you only have one week left living with your best friends.

2. Avoiding any and all sentimental feelings and replacing them with food.

3. Watching your roommates pack up their belongings.

4. Seeing your roommate's empty room and hearing the echo of your breaking heart.

5. Realizing your roomies will not be there to comfort you and give you pep talks after a bad day.

6. And that you can no longer come home and be greeted by your best friends who eagerly awaited your arrival.

7. Questioning your life without your roommates over the whole summer.

8. Then coming to the realization that your roomies are your life and without them you are nothing.

9. The day your roommates start to move out and you still aren't mentally prepared.

10. Oh to top it off, one of your roomies isn't moving back in the fall.

11. Pretending to handle this whole situation.

12. But really all you want to do is this:

13. Saying bye as the final roomie leaves and promising not to get emotional.

14. And finally understanding this isn't goodbye... because you will more than likely see them over the summer.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).
