When You No Longer Need Negativity

We all have something negative that we need to leave behind us.

When You No Longer Need Negativity

After much encouragement from many of my friends, a while ago I did something: I blocked someone. It’s something that I never thought I would actually have the courage to do, however, it was the second time I felt that I had to do it.

Why? Well, I have a multitude of reasons on why I made this choice to block them and why others encouraged me to as well. The main reason, however, is this: I no longer need their negativity affecting my life and neither do you, That’s right. I’m talking to you, my dear reader. The reason I’m writing is because we all have that negative force in our life who we just need to ignore, to block, to remove completely. You may think “What are you talking about? I don’t have someone who is like that.” I can guarantee you that you most likely do.

No one deserves to have negativity in their life. It can be a very dark force that can sometimes physically sick to even think about dealing with it. It can lead to anxious thoughts or to issues with mental health.

While you may think that the negative force in your life can’t really do this to you. It can. Trust me. I’ve seen it many of the people around me and even within myself. You may think you can get through it alone if you just ignore it, but you can’t. It will hurt you.

I have been blessed with the friends who stayed with me and helped me to realize this, and they all deserve a special shout out. You probably have friends too, who keep insisting that you need to leave this negative force behind and you know that they are probably right. Listen to them. They will love you and stay with you no matter what.

If the negative force keeps coming back, remember, it’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to talk to someone and ask what they think you should do. It’s important that you have these people to talk to and have someone who will just listen to you when you need it. They are usually the best people to get advice from.

But most of all remember this. Even if you don’t think there is a way to leave that negativity behind, there is always a way. Even if you don’t think there is someone out there who will listen to you, there always is. You just need to have a little faith, hope, and trust.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
