Leave the Blues At Home

When you wake up in morning, you wake up with the same brain, mind, and problems you had the day before. A good nights sleep goes a long way, but even a peaceful slumber does not erase the troubles of yesterday. Even so, the troubles of today will only add onto the troubles that you faced and hopefully conquered the day before. No matter where you are in life, you're going to face challenges that will shape who you are, and show what you're made of. How you handle your hardships in life says a lot about what kind of person you are, and who you are going to be going forward. Now, I use to be a person that constantly complained about my hardships and always made excuses for my short-comings. I realized that I was simply just wasting my time crying about what I could have actually just been doing. I created a more positive mindset for myself to make myself a better person, and the outcome not only benefited me, but everyone in my life.

I woke up one day not to long ago and my first thoughts were about how full my day was ahead of me. I quickly showered and rushed out the door without getting the chance to eat anything for breakfast. This was after I changed my mindset to be more positive, but I still could not deny my natural human thoughts of distress that were flowing through my mind. My day consisted of me having to be on air and ready for my deejay shift at 9 a.m. which would last to about 11 a.m.. Immediately afterwards I had class from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by another deejay shift from 1 to 3. I then had to walk a mile home only to get dressed and be at work by 4, knowing i'd finally get home and be done for the day at about 11. It was going to be a busy day but as I walked out the door i was ready to face it to my full abilities. I put in my headphones and for some odd reason, I hit the shuffle button on my pandora station, something i've literally never done before. The song that played absolutely had to have been a message from life because as I started my mile walk to campus, my ears were filled with the beautiful sounds of the Allman Brother's "Leave My Blues At Home"

I've heard that song before but the words just seemed to speak so much more clearly to me than they had previously before. Just the simple words, leave my blues at home, had an impact on me. It got me thinking about positivity and negativity, as well as myself. The Idea I took away from those inspiring words were that in life we all have troubles and hardships, and as i stated before, it is about how we face them and handle them that defines our true genuine character. Running from your problems never solves anything, and the same could be said about complaining about them. It is natural to vent your frustrations and alleviate your mind of your worries, but if all you're doing is complaining about life, then you will probably view it with a more negative mindset. Negativity gets nothing achieved normally, or at least nothing done right. When you have a negative mindset, you are not only hurting yourself but everyone you come into contact.

Negativity is a disease that spreads and effects everyone it comes into contact with. When you say something negative to someone, you effect their day in a negative light. Every person on this planet has his or her problems that they are facing just like you. For example, say someone is having a tough day, just like yourself, and they ask you a simple question and you reply in a nasty way, regardless of if you gave them a satisfactory answer. They will leave the conversation in a less positive light then they had before they came into contact with you. Say you had the same conversation with the same person, but instead of being nasty, you are friendly and welcoming. Again, even if you can't satisfy their answer, they will hopefully walk away with a smile on their face because of your kind words. Negativity, as well as positivity, has a ripple effect on everyone you come into contact with. You show someone kindness and delight, odds are they will carry on that good will and pass it along to the next person they come into contact with. The same applies to negativity. When you cast your stone, why not cast a positive one and impact your life, as well as life itself, in a more positive view.

It goes back to leaving your blues at home. Everyone is going through something only they can understand. Of course some people have it harder than others, but the point and case is when you walk out the door in the morning, leave your blues at home. Do not let the stress or hardship of the day get you down to the point where you're negatively viewing the world, nothing good will come of it, and you will have an impact on everyone you come across. Instead, realize what needs to be done, do everything in your power to accomplish it to the best of you're abilities, and throw a smile on your face. It is up to every single one of us to make the world a better place, and there is no way in hell it ever will be better if we are all walking around in a big ball of negativity.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
