And remember the good times...

Leave Your Negativity In 2016

This past year has been difficult for many. There has been a lot of heartbreak. Plus, there has been quite a bit of weird. However, we should leave the negative things in 2016 and bring the positive things with us. Here are some of the good things that happened to me over the past year. I urge you to look at the good things that happened to you as well.

1. I graduated high school.

2. I turned 18.

Becoming a legal adult has not been too bad.

3. I started my collegiate career at Oklahoma State University.

I cannot remember a time I did not want to go to OSU, so I would consider that a success.

4. I met one of my best friends and my college roommate.

We met at our college orientation, and I do not know what I would do without her.

5. I have also met a ton of amazing people since I have been in Stillwater.

Making new friends is never easy as we get older, but I have had the opportunity to meet so many rad friends.

6. I started dating somebody who has already made my life so much easier.

I have a boyfriend that supports me and loves me. He has changed my life, and he encourages me to be my best self.

7. My favorite band wrote a new album.

As It Is wrote their new album, “Okay” which comes out January 20th.

8. I got my first summer job.

Over the summer, I had a job at a local veterinary clinic that I wanted to work at since I was little, which gave me an experience that I needed.

9. I attended a few firearms and defense classes.

I even met and interviewed a psychologist in the field that I would like to look into.

10. I took a vacation with some of my best friends.

This was such a fun experience in South Padre Island, Texas.

11. I worked on myself.

I decided to love myself and others the way they deserve, which includes handling problems and news in a better, more rational way. I improved a part of myself.

Many great things happened last year, although 2016 will likely live in infamy. I just do not want anyone to forget that overall these are the things that matter. These are the memories we need to remember.

When it comes to Bloomington-Normal, there are many outstanding factors that any Illinois State student can say are unique to our college town (and maybe others too). Proud or not, we Redbirds know all the ins and outs of Blono.

1. The wait for Buffalo Wild Wings is always going to be long on Thursday nights.

As hard as we try, it's nearly impossible to resist the 69-cent wings on a college student budget. Plus, they are always delicious!
