Leave Bieber And His Instagram Alone

It's not too late to say sorry.

Well folks, it looks like there’s now one less lonely boy on Instagram. If any of you aren’t up to date with the new celebrity drama, Justin Bieber recently deleted his Instagram account. Fans were saying outrageous things about The Biebs and his new “girlfriend” Sofia Richie. Justin threatened to delete his Instagram if people couldn't calm themselves and act like sane human beings. Of course, people just could not keep their negative comments to themselves. Justin even made claims that the two are just friends and nothing has yet to be confirmed that they are even an item. For all we know they could just be “talking” because isn’t that how our generation works nowadays, anyways? I digress.

Along with some obscene comments “fans” made to Justin, Selena Gomez decided to chime in on Bieber’s Instagram. She said, “If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend.” Selena, I won’t say much about you because I don’t personally know you as a person, but all I have to say is I guess Nicki Minaj wasn’t entirely wrong when she said “gotta keep an eye out for Selener."

Think what you want about The Biebs, but I personally do not blame him for deleting his Instagram. I support him and his decision to remove himself from a drama filled setting and here are some reasons why.

1. Being Famous Isn’t All What It’s Cracked Up To Be

People often say things like “he did this to himself” or “it’s his own fault he’s famous, he asked for this." Justin Bieber did not ask for paparazzi to constantly be in his face. He did not ask for girls to claw at his skin and stick their smart phones in his face without even acknowledging that he is a human being. He got into this business when he was only thirteen years old. I don’t even think that I knew what the birds and bees talk was at thirteen, let alone know how scary this world can be. He was immediately thrown into an overwhelming amount of fame. He was pried in different directions by people that probably didn't even have his best interest because when they saw him all they saw was money. Justin Bieber has absolutely no private life. The poor kid can’t even take a little dip in a pool without every part of his body being exploited onto the Internet. A lot of Bieber’s life is out of his control whereas you or I can walk to Starbucks on a bad day and enjoy a cup of coffee and relax. He can’t even go get ice cream without being attacked. I really cannot imagine that kind of lifestyle. Instagram is the only thing in his control. He is able to project what he wants to on his Instagram and it is one of the only things he is able to take away. Kudos to you Bieber for removing yourself from a negative situation because God knows you have enough of your life parading around on Internet platforms.

2. He Is A Musician

I don’t think people really understand how talented Justin Bieber truly is. He has such a unique voice and can play just about every instrument possible. His falsetto makes any girl (or boy) melt into a puddle. He really is a talented soul. Justin was brought into the spotlight to perform. That is his job. It is not his job to constantly worry about what others perceive about him, or what might piss someone off. It is not his job to be his fans BFF. It is his job to entertain and to perform and that is exactly what he does. I’m not saying he should go around and not respect his fans or hear them out, however, people ought to not to be so sensitive to his personal doings that have absolutely nothing to do with them. He still has a life to live outside of being famous. None of his fans are his parents or his friends and have no right to give him unsought dating advice. If these so called “fans” really loved him they would support him and his happiness.

3. We Whisper When He Does Something Good

Has Justin Bieber been somewhat of a jerk in the past? Yes. I will not even deny that. But I will say, we all have been jerks before. You could be the nicest person in the entire world, but I’m sure you’ve still done some things that you aren’t proud of. People are constantly bringing up his past and I really don’t think that is fair at all because if I take a look at my old self I am not even close to that person. Since Justin’s mishaps, he really has tried to right his wrongs. He brings so much joy to so many people and we need to recognize that. Of course he has had some spells, but he has also made some kids life. Let’s not forget how many wishes he has made true.

4. Name One 22-Year-Old Guy That Hasn’t Had His “Moments”

Justin Bieber didn’t get to go to college. He didn’t get to experience the life most of us have. He didn’t get to mess up and push it under the rug and move on. He didn’t get to grow up like we have. The best part about growing up is making mistakes and not being constantly reminded of them. Justin, I am sincerely sorry that no one can let you forget. We act like we know Justin Bieber, but we don’t. We don’t know his personal life or his struggles. It seems like no matter what move he makes it’ll never be the right one in the media’s eyes.

5. People Hide Behind Computer Screens

The saddest part to me about all of these people saying hateful things to Justin over Instagram is the fact that probably not a single one of them would ever say it to his face. They more than likely would just be concerned about getting a picture so they could show people that they met Justin Bieber. It is so easy to let your thumbs do the talking.

6. He Is Still Human

This last point here is probably the most important point to take away. Beliebe it or not, but Justin Bieber is human. He has a heart and he has a mind and he reads these terrible things people say about him. I think the majority of people can say they have once been belittled over the Internet at one point in their life. I personally got bullied pretty badly over social media growing up. This is his everyday life. It takes a toll on him and we need to learn to have empathy for people and put ourselves in their shoes, even Justin Bieber’s. He may have it all, but he still has a heart and this heart of his can still be hurt. A broken heart is one thing money or fame cannot fix.

Whether you’re a “Belieber," a fan, or just think Justin Bieber is nice to look at, I hope that maybe we can all learn to be a little kinder to celebrities over social media because they do see some of the things we post and it can be hurtful. There are far too many young deaths due to cyber bullying and people just being straight up mean. I will say, I’ll definitely miss seeing Bieber’s face on my feed, but luckily the paparazzi probably has us all covered. And it’s only right to end this rant with the wise words of Justin Bieber himself:

“It’s like they want me to be perfect

When they don’t even know that I’m hurting

This life's not easy

I'm not made out of steel

Don't forget that I'm human

Don't forget that I'm real

You act like you know me

But you never will”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
