As I started sprinting back to my suite in the pouring rain, I stopped dead in my tracks. Why? Because I was already soaked from head to toe, and I thought, "I'm going to enjoy it."

Now, I am fully aware that I probably looked crazy as I jammed out to Isn't It Time by the Beach Boys, but you know what? I was long overdue "to dance the time away." With all of the chaos and negativity that's been going on, I think that this rainstorm was exactly what I needed.

I have been in a rut of seeing the glass half empty, but being trapped in the rain brought me back to when I was a kid; when being in the rain was the absolute BEST! Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
