Learning To Let God Crash Over You
Crosswalk

Then You crash over me and I've lost control but I'm free
I'm going under, I'm in over my head
Then you crash over me, and that's where You want me to be
I'm going under, I'm in over my head

-Bethel Music "In Over My Head"

Just take a moment and let those words resonate within you.

As the new school year really starts to kick into full gear, it's so easy to get caught up in things that aren't Jesus. Friends, sports, extracurricular activities. Not that these are bad by any means, but they shouldn't be our main focus. When was the last time you found yourself so caught up in these things that you lost sight of God? For me, it was the end of my senior year of high school. God became someone I talked to but didn't have a relationship with because I didn't make time for Him. That's an excuse most people use..that they don't "have time", but honestly, we all have time.

We often find ourselves in over our heads with school work, clubs, even friends. The stress starts to hit, there's constant complaining, a lack of motivation, and a huge hole in your heart. If we're being honest, its happened to all of us at least once. We become so far into something, we want out, we want to feel freed, but that all seems impossible. It's like we're in a pit, and the devil pulled the ladder out. But with God, it's so different. He loves us so fiercely, much more than we can comprehend, and He offers us a way out of that pit. He gives us a life where we can continually find joy because of who He is, and not who we are.

Let God crash over you, wreck your life and your plans because His undeniable and incomparable love will fill the holes in your heart. God knows best. You don't know best, mom doesn't know best. God knows best.So let Him have all of you. Every single ounce of you should be His. He wants to lavish you with His love and grace and mercy. So let Him have control, let Him take you under His unending waves of affection. God is a good and sovereign God who will never leave you. He is so beautifully in love with you and that will never change. Because as long as you are deeply in love with Him, He will make you new. He will make you righteous and redeemed. He will make you free.

Everyday of your life, live in complete awe of our creator and you will find new mercies and new beginnings every day. There is nothing you can do that will stop God from loving you, and once you just soak in that every single day your life gains new meaning and you, new power. So go out and love like you've never loved, and serve like you've never served, ALL for God, and you will find yourself in over your head.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
