1. You can reach more people!

There are around 7.5 billion people on Earth, and only 1.5 billion people speak English. If you only know how to speak English, you're limiting yourself to knowing only 20% percent of the world's population!

2. You can travel to more places!

Traveling abroad is much easier and an overall better experience when you can speak the countries language.

3. You can strengthen your brain!

Learning a new language has been proven to make an individual's memory stronger, as well as making dementia and Alzheimer's less likely.

4. You can get better job opportunities!

With the global market expanding drastically, people who can speak more than one language are valued by employers.

5. You can see twice the entertainment!

When you speak another language, the amount of books, movies, and music you can understand and enjoy can double, giving you twice the amount of enjoyment.

6. It can make you smarter!

Studies have shown that knowing more than one language can help you perform better in core subjects.

7. It can act as a secret code!

My sister and I both understand and speak Mandarin, and, in a household where no one else understands the language, much hilarity ensued when the two of us would have secret conversations in Mandarin.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
