Recently Beyoncé dropped a visual album entitled "Lemonade," and it's basically just a giant sub-tweet at Jay-Z for cheating on her. Each song is incredible and makes you feel a different type of emotion. After listening to the entire album, there were so many things running through my mind.
My immediate reaction was, "If Beyoncé gets cheated on, there is literally no hope for any of us. Who would cheat on her? Why would someone cheat on her?" After listening to the album nonstop, I've learned a few things.
Not every relationship is perfect. The queen herself got cheated on (which is just mind blowing). It happens to the best of us. Just because their relationship looks picture perfect doesn't mean that it's actually perfect. No one is perfect; their relationships won't be either.
Together, you can work through anything. After looking into what happened, Jay-Z and Beyoncé actually worked through the rough patch in their relationship. Jay-Z deeply regrets what happened and fully supported her releasing the album. Just because the going gets tough doesn't mean the tough gets going.
Don't give up on the one you love. Obviously, Beyoncé didn't give up on Jay-Z, and he didn't give up on her either. She was given the ultimate reason to leave but decided to fight for whom she loved. Besides, if you love someone, then walking away or giving up should never be an option.
Use your source of happiness to get you through a tough time. Beyoncé channeled her emotions through music, and in turn created an incredible piece of art. Find your source of happiness or something you're great at and use it to channel your emotions.
Listen to your parents. On "Lemonade", Bey has a song titled "Daddy Lessons" in which she sings of all the lessons she learned from her dad. Don't just brush what your parents are saying to you off your shoulders. It'll be important one day. They have a lot of life experience and want nothing but the best for you. Give them a call. Just talk or ask for advice.
Never let someone or something bring you down. Beyoncé pranced around with a smile on her face as she sang those heartfelt lyrics about something that should've made her want to crawl under a rock and cry. Not once did she let her situation destroy her. She used it to make herself better and to help others. If you've gotten yourself into an awful situation, then don't let the other person destroy you. Stand up, realize what went wrong, make changes and be you! Life is too short to dwell on someone or something.
There's always a lesson to be learned, no matter the situation. Ultimately, her goal for releasing this album was to teach these lessons to people. Not every relationship is perfect, but with effort and determination, anything is possible. Utilize the people around you and fun activities to help you through any situation. Most importantly, never let anything destroy who you are. As Hattie White (Jay-Z's grandmother) says in the track "Freedom," "When life serves you lemons, make lemonade."
