I chose to go to a small, liberal arts college 4 hours away from home. Given that my high school was extremely overcrowded and I had little friends, I thought a small college was the best option for me. Here are just a few things to highlight my week:
- I really am an introvert.
- In high school I always thought I was outgoing and loved talking to people, but I haven’t made very many friends so far. I think to myself “Go and talk to them, they won’t bite,” but I don’t.
- Spacing your classes out is smart.
- All of my classes are spaced out enough during the day that I have time to relax in between.
- It’s a little harder than I expected.
- So far I’ve only had a little bit of trouble in German 1, but that’s because I have no clue how to speak German. Aside from that, my classes are relatively easy (for now.)
- Class discussions can go anywhere.
- My English class is discussion based and I love it. Hearing everyone else’s points of view and how they perceive what we are to read is so interesting.
- Free food = the best food
- I love food as it is, but when it’s free it's even better. Not going to lie… I went somewhere just to get pizza and then left the other day.
- The on-campus mailroom is a mess.
- I ordered stuff from Amazon and they proceeded to tell me it was never delivered. It was in fact delivered on the scheduled date, but I received it two days late.
- Being away from home sucks.
- I am 4 hours away from home and I’ve so home sick all week. I haven’t cried but once since my parents left, but it still sucks.
- There is no reason you should be bored.
- There is always something going on on-campus, so if you get bored it’s your fault.
- Sweet sweet freedom.
- Not that I don’t love living with my parents, but I love that I can eat half a pack of cookies if I want (of course at my own risk.) Or eat dinner at 8 pm.
