Learn To Say Yes

Here is a brief spill of why you should not question decisions too much

Learn To Say Yes

Would you like to marry me?

Yes.

Wait. No. I do not mean you should easily answer "yes" to such an important question…are you comple-

Yes.

Okay...I guess...

I understand most of the time we want to learn to say no; we do not want to be too mean, right? Seriously though. With this article, I am not telling you to answer "yes" to every single question; rather, answer yes to those questions that make you think twice about your options. Every now and then, we have the conformity of taking a long nap after a tiring day after hanging out, working, or doing homework. Then, every single time, there is that one friend that texts you and asks if you are down to hang out. That is when you ponder about it. You think your options twice: to hang out, or to stay here and watch Netflix. It sure is a hard choice; trust me, I have been there. However, I do encourage you to say Yes to your friend.

Now, think about it. What really is better? To stay at home and binge watch an entire season of Game of Thrones, or to hang out with your beloved friends? No, wait, you have not thought about it completely, I know your answer is still to binge watch…two seasons maybe? You have class tomorrow, you know?

If you have read all the way here and your choice is still to stay at home, to you I tell you: get out there. Nothing will happen if you stay at home. Trust me. Game of Thrones can surely wait. However, if you decide to eventually go out with your friend.. what is the worst that could happen? Having a good time? Okay, sure, you might sprain your ankle. But at least that will give you a story to talk about, right? Rather than a boring tale about how you binge watched three seasons of Game of Thrones. Wait, this is not the first time you have seen the series, right?

You do not only need to answer Yes to your friend who wishes to hang out; what about that classmate in your calculus class that is struggling and requests help from you? Ugh, you would have to work a few extra hours to make sure they make a good mark on the next exam. That is plenty of your free time invested in this person. Should you? Well, let us see. Are you skeptical about it? Can you actually make time for it? Being lazy is not a good reason (and you might have run out of excuses already). So, what is your final answer? Yes? No? You could help somebody pass a course; that is saving a lot of time and money, in exchange for some of your time. After all, you are getting some company as well. Who knows, you both may become extremely good friends. Right? Yes, you may (or you might as well develop a new enemy).

No, I am also not telling you to imitate the movie “Yes Man,” and if you have not seen it I do suggest you add it to your movie list. Yes, the movie does have a happy ending so you might as well and try and copy it if you believe movies are not fictional enough.

Okay, fine. Yes. You can go ahead and binge watch your favorite series and completely disregard this piece of text. Please do not spoil the ending to your friends. It is very much appreciated from their part.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
