As May is creeping up and my freshman year is rapidly coming to an end, I've been doing a lot of self-reflection lately. It is almost impossible to believe that in just two short weeks, my first year of college will be over. As I have taken this time to cherish my friends and these moments I won't have this summer, I've come up with a few things I have learned about myself and the world since being here.

1. How to be independent

Before coming here, I would never be caught dead eating or shopping alone. I always had someone with me to do every little thing and since August, I have learned how to do things on my own. It sounds sad but it's definitely a part of growing up. My most recent accomplishment was going to the Post Office...ALONE!

2. Money management

In high school, I rarely ever had to pay for anything myself. I was definitely spoiled rotten but since being a college student, I pride myself in my newest talent of making $25 last at least a couple of weeks.

3. How to have friends from all over the place

Since I lived in the same town my whole life, I never really had to make new friends. Since moving six hours away, I've had to make all new friends from all over the country and honesty, it's been one of the best things. I've learned so much about the way other people live and have changed my perspective on life because of it.

4. How to be spontaneous

In high school, I used to have to ask permission before I did anything, and now I can do whatever I want, when I want. I've had to learn how to be responsible with that freedom but it has been so great.

5. Time management

College is a lot different than high school and I definitely have a lot more free time. IT's definitely been a struggle trying to manage my time between sorority activities, my friends, class, and studying. Although I'm still getting better every day, I have definitely learned a lot.

This year has flown by fast than I could have ever imagined, but I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I have made the most amazing friends that I will have for the rest of my life and I have gained so many life skills that I will carry with me forever. I seriously cannot believe this year is almost over but I am beyond excited for the next three years.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
