Why Everyone Should Learn How To Detox

Life can get overwhelming and finding some time for yourself can be tough. As crazy as it sounds, we as a society are constantly up-dating and truly have lost the most simplistic form of relaxation, slowing-down. As species we are consuming and consuming with little to no organic-fashion behind our personal "feel-good" consumption.

Finding time to breath and space to reevaluate is tough. Your life is extremely important and treasuring happiness and inner content is only a detox away.

Learning to detox is simply letting go of emotional and physical situations. You are in control. Remember that this is your life, start to finish. Everyday is a new opportunity to rewind and go forward in the path of your own direction. You are the sailor, the wind and the open water.

Simple Step-by-Step 1 Day Detox:

You can carry this detox throughout any day, time and period that applies to your own state of wellness:

1. Wake up energized:

(This is key)

- Brew your favorite cup of coffee, tea. Get your day started earlier

- Only use your smart phone for emergency situations. Don't use, open, check-up on any apps. If this conflicts with your work, school schedule, try limiting smart-phone usage

- Make a work-out play list, hit the gym/ treadmill/ yoga mat early on

2. Create a To-Do list:

(You don't need a fancy planner for this, FYI)

- Set your goals and go forward to pursue them

- Tell yourself you can and you will reach your destination

3. Physically clean your space around you:

(Mentally, this includes your day-to-day thought processes)

Physically, you can:

- Clean out your car, desk, bag pack, room, etc.

- Get a pedicure, manicure, etc.

- Create meal preps, detox waters for the day/week, etc.

- Cut out individuals that aren't doing you well, out of your inbox or real life, etc.

4. Watch what comes out of your mouth

(Yes)

- Language, attitude, etc.

- Don't put yourself and others down around you

5. Do something good for somebody else

(Being selfless is crucial)

- Buy an individuals meal/coffee behind you in the drive-thru, ect.

- Spark up a conversation with a stranger

- Help a struggling friend or family member out in one way or another

Most importantly, do this all with positivity.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
