Chips. Crisps. Yummy, fattening goodness. Whatever you call them, Lay’s potato chips, around since 1932, have been a salty treat enjoyed for quite some time.

In that period, Lay’s has tried on a multitude of colorful hats in the form of user-generated flavors in the “Do Us A Flavor” contest and from the creative minds that lie within the PepsiCo headquarters. These flavors have both delighted and disgusted the public. But more than that, some of these out-of-the-box flavors leave us wondering, “What possibly could be next?”

Here are seven of the strangest Lay’s flavors from around the globe:

1. Lasagna

Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay get to lay claim to this intriguing flavor creation. I guess there’s nothing like a bag of Lasagna potato chips to remind your of your mother’s home cooking.

2. Cappuccino

The common white girl like myself now has no reason to fear. My love of Starbucks can now be recreated in chip form. Hmmm…I wonder if Starbucks would consider a line of coffee chips?

But in all seriousness, a line must be drawn between what is acceptable American cuisine and what is simply too much.

3. Bacon Poutine

What is more Canadian than poutine flavored potato chips? Poutine is actually surprisingly delicious. However, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cringe at the thought of this dish reimagined in the form of greasy chips.

4. Crab

Russia is the lucky country that gets to lay claim to this culinary masterpiece. Who allowed this into existence? An entire team of people had to sit down and approve of crab-flavored potato chips. Think about that for a moment.

5. Fried Green Tomato

Something about fried green tomatoes and chips seems to be incompatible, but don’t tell Lay’s that!

6. Marmite

I can’t say that I have ever personally had marmite, but simply the thought of this flavor sold in the United Kingdom earns it a place on this list.

7. Mint Mischief

I really don’t know how to feel about this one. There is simply something about a potato that doesn’t make me feel like mint would be a good combination to throw into the mix.

Lay’s are not a go-to for nutritious sustenance, but it would be a complete lie if you said that they didn’t offer their consumers a plethora of options. In fact, consumers have so much say that multiple flavors currently in grocery stores are the product of a Lay’s-eating dreamer.

What crazy concoction will make it to our stores next? Based on past and current Lay’s flavors, it is safe to say that the craziest of ideas never even made it past the meeting room walls of those tasked with creating the next guilty pleasure snack food flavor.

The question now lies in your hands. If you could create any flavor of potato chip that you wanted, what would it be?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
