10 Laws Every College Kid Breaks But Only Gets Arrested For If They Are Stupid

In This Article:

*Disclaimer, it is not right to break the laws of the land, but if you do don't be stupid about it!*

Here are ten laws that every college kid breaks, but get away with unless they're dumb.

Speeding

Everyone and their mom breaks this law, but you only get arrested if your going 20+ miles over the speed limit or if you are drunk or have illegal substances in the car when you are pulled over.

Underage Drinking

Almost everyone I know does this, and there are ways not to get caught. One way is to not do it, you can have a good fake ID, do it in your home, and don't drive while drunk.

Smoking (anything)

Smoking is not my preference, but if you don't hide it or the smell, then you are a dumb criminal.

Peeing in public

Have someone cover you and be in the middle of nowhere to get away with the crime, otherwise you'll be on the sex offender list.

Using a Cell Phone while driving

If anyone doesn't break this law, who are you? Either way, it is dangerous, you could get arrested if you cause an accident or have other related driving violations (i.e., suspended license) when you get pulled over if you depend on your phone that much, use the voice control feature on your smartphone to avoid further trouble. As long as you play it smart, then you are good to go!

Driving without a seat belt

YOU SHOULD USE A SEATBELT FOR SAFETY, however, if you choose not to do not cause an accident because you will get arrested and sent to jail. If you see a cop, put the seatbelt on quickly!

Jaywalking

The only way you can get arrested is that you jaywalk in front of a cop car, then BAM! Jail time!

Sharing medication

This is something that you should not do at all, but if you take the same medication as your friend you're okayish. You could get arrested if your friend has to go to the hospital because they had a weird reaction to a pill you gave them. So this law should be the law out of this list that you should follow.

Gambling

Whether it is betting Starbucks or a million dollars, everyone gambles somehow, you could get arrest if you are caught in the act doing it or if you win the million dollars, could be up for racketeering charges. So in other words, watch your back and have everything in cash.

Hit and Run

You can get arrested for the crime if you run away, if you back to the person you just hit, you may get off with a little warning. It would help if you also had a perfectly clean record (being white does not apply) anyone can get out of it if they admit and never had a run in with the law.

Use the advice wisely and I do not okay your illegal actions, I'm just teaching you how not to be stupid.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
