"I'm not a hero"- John Dorie

"Fear The Walking Dead" gave us a really interesting episode, titled "Laura." The episode followed John Dorie and Naomi, or as John knows her, Laura. This episode did something that "The Walking Dead" has never done before. It gave us a love story and it was one of the best flashback episodes I think I have ever seen.

The episode opens with John laying in bed as he is woken up by a singing fish alarm clock, it sings "Take me to the river." It also fits really well, as not 5 minutes later, John is taken to the river where he meets Naomi, also known as Laura, who washed up on shore. They develop a bond very quickly as she ends up trusting John to do her stitches on a wound. Getting back to John, his life is fairly normal, he wakes up in the morning, does some chores, cleans his guns, then sits back and watches some movies on what looks like VHS. He even goes to the store and checks them out. I personally find John to be such an interesting character, in a sense that he is a man just trying to live a somewhat normal life.

This was a very dialogue heavy episode, not only that, the writing was superb. Naomi had been featured in a handful of episodes up until this one and they made me love Naomi's character in just 45 minutes. Similar situation with John, who I was starting to like, but now John has become my favorite character in the whole franchise. Yes, not series, the franchise as in both shows. John's story about why he doesn't like guns is very sad. He went into a convenience store one night and it was being robbed, John was going to shoot him in the leg, but the man turned and he shot him in the wrong place and he bled out, which is why he moved to his little cabin.

Ultimately, Naomi wants to leave and John proclaims his love for her. She stays another night and is gone in the morning. It's actually heartbreaking because you are rooting for these two. I knew that Naomi would leave as she ends up at the Stadium, I was just hoping she wouldn't. John and Naomi are two characters that I really hope get reunited, as of now in this show, Alicia claims she is dead after the fall of the stadium which made John upset. I think Naomi made it out and she is with Madison because there has to be a happy ending here. But if there isn't, then I guess we will have to deal with that. Until Naomi is confirmed as dead, I am holding out hope.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
